I have been wrestling with the flywheel on a 280707 briggs single. I got the nut off pretty easily but I have not been able to get the flywheel off the crank. Is there a tool that I can find at an auto parts store that will get the flywheel off? It looks like a harmonic balancer puller would work using long bolts into the flywheel.
Does anyone have any other tricks that might save me a trip?

I could tell you the old school way but that is not recommended. I have been using a steering wheel puller for years, Most chain auto stores have these as a loner tool.
Also, If you sprayed penetrating oil on there clean the crank and flywheel with carb & choke cleaner before re-assembly. You don't want anything on these surfaces.

Thanks as always Rob.
I'll swing by the parts store tonight and take out a steering wheel puller.
