This would be a cool little service truck. Definitely a head turner.

Too bad it probably won't be street-legal in the USA

You don't think it can be titled here? If he can answer the title issue I might bid on it. McAllen is no man's land for cars. Between Mexico and TX nothing gets registered everything is cash.

I think the diesel engine is a problem, as far as emission standards go, which is why no 60 mpg diesel Smart Cars are littering our highways.

Actually a pretty clean looking rig.

Did you see the Mercedes seats? New diesel engine. I'd love to own that truck but right now I'm struggling with an untitled boat that I thought i got a great deal on until I discovered what a PIB it is to get untitled stuff registered. i figured the state would love to get something added to the tax roll. WRONG! They are more interested in getting all the unpaid tax from its previous history.

And I thought this was just a CA thing.

Try winning something and then registaring in with your state's d.m.v.

Man, was that a pain.

I have seen these trucks running around on College campuses for maintenance purposes. I don't know if College's have special permissions with regard to titling vehicles, but these trucks sure seem handy for service related work.

I followed a trailer of little pickups that looked like that, but when I finally caught up to them, I could see that they were Daihatsu maintenance pickups, not intended for actual road use.

That's a sweet ride. I have no idea how the current laws apply to diesel here in CA. I think they're exempt from smog checks, but I could get into the idea of guilt-free biodiesel.

The bidding has stalled at 10,000 and rightfully so. Here was my question to him. Do you think I annoyed him?

As much money as you have sunk into this car I have to believe that if you could have gotten it titled you would have. Please come clean on the title issue so that I can factor that into my bid. I'm not sure this car can be made street legal without a lot of cost. Aug-20-07
A: I HAVE NOT EVEN TRIED TO TITLE IT IN THE U.S. AS I SAID I CAN DELIVER EITHER IN MEXICO OR IN TEXAS, THE TRUCK IS TITLED IN MEXICO AND LICENCED, I BOUGHT IT IN TEXAS WITH AN AUCION SALES RECIEPT, IT WAS SOLD BY THE CITY OF HARLINGEN TEXAS, I IMPORTED THE TRUCK TO MEXICO IN 2000, I CAN NOT SAY WHAT HAVING THE TRUCK TITLED IN THE U.S. WOULD IMPLY. I SEE TRUCKS LIKE THIS IN CAL. AND I´VE SEEN SOME IN NEVADA AND THERE IS MANY IN THE BORDER STATES ON THE NORTH SIDE. I CAN´T TELL YOU WHAT OR HOW MUCH IT WOULD COST YOU TO DO THIS, THAT IS AS CLEAN AS I CAN COME. THANKS FOR YOUR INTEREST. GTIMEX

... IT WAS SOLD BY THE CITY OF HARLINGEN TEXAS, ...

Wonder if it was used as a city service vehicle or if it was impounded, as in a drug dealer's vehicle, and then auctioned after legal proceedings were completed?
