I am wanting to purchase a backpack blower and am debating the extra $100 for the Stihl BR600 over the 550. Is it worth the extra money???

Also if I buy a new blower, edger, and trimmer at the same time, will most dealers knock some off of the price??

I just bought the br600 because I would rather pay the extra than wish I had. As for dickering, most of these guys on here say its not right to try to take advantage of your dealer. I wish I could type that witha straight face!Lmao. I say dicker but these guys usually say no.

We have both, the 550 and 600. The 600 is not only 1 lbs lighter, it is noticeable more powerful without being any louder.

Like a girl once told me, "cheap is not sexy". Spend the extra $$ and get the 600, you'll be glad you did.

On the topic of BR600 vs BR550, go with the 600.

I think I will go with the 600. If I don't, I know I'll regret it.

I was all ready to go with the 600 but there are enough negative stuff coming out on lawnsite that I am sticking with either the BR420 or going back to Echo next year. Unless I missed some thread I don't think I have heard anything bad on Echo blowers?

550-600 is a BIG difference, no comparison, only the model numbers will fool you.

HUGE.
Specs on 550 is 530 cfm 199mph (cfm almost the same as model number)
Specs on 600 is 712 cfm, 201mph (see it could fool you, no 600-odd cfm's here thou)
We're talking like +40% cfm's, the mph is really the same.

You need three 550's to do the work of two 600's, roughly speaking.
If I use my bg-55 in my left hand while wearing the 600, it's like using two 550's.

You ever get the chance you can try my old 550 lol, I don't even use those weak things anymore.

Ed, just get the 600. The only problems I have seen is from people using the wrong oil in them. If the Ultra oil is used, end of problems. Kind of like you telling everyone to use the Echo oil in their Echo units to perform properly.
The 600 also comes with the adjustable tube now so nothing holding you back.

Cheers..............

600, all the way.
Originally, I bought a 550. Then the 600's came out.
When I started it and tested it, I bought it right then.
Now I have 3 BR600's, and the BR550 is just a back up collecting dust.

IT's worth the extra money.
