Sole Proprietorship or LLC

i am starting my own sealcoating business next season. i am not sure if i should go Sole Proprietorship of LLC. the guy i worked company is a sole proprietorship but he started his business 20 years ago. i am looking to get some opinions. thanks in advance kyle

Kyle, i know this is dated. But personally i started up as a sole proprietorship. I like having the ability to claim the expenses. I have been in the business for 3 years and fortunately i have not had any more incidents (cost wise). I haven't ruined anyone's property beyond repair. At the most i have had to just reseal a driveway after a bad rain storm. Honestly it really depends on your situation...my understanding is you would want an LLC to escape personal liability. An LLC requires a bit more to establish vs. a sole proprietorship.
