Ariens wont shift into neutral!

I have an Ariens riding mower that has been painted, so I don't have the model number or anything. All I have is picture for you guys. It will not shift into neutral.

It has been 14/15 years since I worked on one of these, I thought if I went to the Gravely/Ariens site and found the parts break-down it might jog my memory.

But, I couldn't find one chain drive out of all of these, They all have gear cases;

I looked at ALL with the Tecumseh rope and electric start and a few of the Briggs powered rope and electric thinking as old as it is anybody could have swapped engines or stripped electric start parts.

The only thing that comes to mind is Snapper uses a disc drive set up similar to this. I see your rubber disc IS in the neutral position (over the center hole in the engine disc).

I have seen these engine disc on Snappers walk down on the crankshaft and cause them to have no neutral (The rubber disc hits the outer edges of the hole in the engine disc), I just can't remember if the Ariens engine disc is adjustable but it's something to check. If it is just slide it up on the crank a little and see if that solves the problem.

If the disc is in neutral, how come I can't freely push the mower? I don't think I saw anything to adjust the disc. On the metal rods that connect the shifter to the discs, on both ends are what seem to be adjusting nuts. Ill show a pic of them tomorrow. Maybe it is a snapper? The steering wheel has a Ariens logo in the center of it though. ALSO, on the back of the mower, behind the engine in the 3rd pic, you see the "cylindrical" object sticking up? The lid comes off and there is a spring and a bolt inside. Directly below that spring is the spinning disc. Is this an adjustment?

Above is why you can't roll the unit. The rubber disc is not supposed to hit the edges of that hole. That is a Ariens unit, I just couldn't find it for some reason.

I would say yes, That could be the disc height adjustment, I would try to tighten this bolt inside and see if it raises this disc but just enough to let the rubber disc spin inside the center hole, If you raise it too far it could slip while driving.

ok, ill tighten it more tomorrow. I noticed earlier, when tightening, it spins the engine. If you happen to find a diagram on this spring loaded thing, let me know! Thanks.
