canister type filter for briggs

Does anyone know if there is a canister type filter for the 26 hp brigg els??? Also, my buddy has the scag 48" like mine but 2 years older w/ the 24 hp. Does anyone know if there is a retrofit to the newer filter like the 26hp or possibly a canister type ???

I'm not aware of air canisters being available for Briggs ELS engines.

My Scag Freedom Z with 26 Briggs ELS is fitted with the canister filter, a design upgrade to solve the dirty air ingestion problem with the waffle-style cartridge filter. Don't know if retrofit is available. You're going to have to contact Briggs or your dealer. I've read where some people have added extra foam and what-not to get a proper seal with the cartridge filters.

I just got off the phone with Briggs Tech support, They do not offer a canister style filter system for the Intek line. He said they do have one for the Vanguard but will not retrofit the Intek.

Sounds like if you want this style filter you may need to contact Scag, They devised the system on their units.

If you really bent on doing this, you will need to do some customizing (fashioning, Fabbing, cobbling...etc) On something like this severe duty cannister filter system.(lower part of page) I'm sure it could be rerofitted...but would it be worth the extra cost???
