We wear red polos with the company name on them, Cargo shorts or jeans, and work boots.

If I were you I would concentrate my money on advertising. Uniforms are a waste of money at this point in the game for you... you will get a better ROI doing more advertising.... flyers, yellow pages, radio, website, or whatever.

I Would Focus On Advertising When Just Getting Started.with That Said I Would At Least Get Some Tshirts With Your Logo. Imo It Is Very Unproffesional To See A Yard Full Of Guys With Shirts Off,cut Off Sllevless Budweiser Shirts Etc... Personally We Use Unifirst Uniform Company It Is About $10 A Week Per Guy And I Just Take It Out Of Their Checks. My Guys Love Them.

Uniforms have nothing to do with ROI, they have to do with image.

A good image will give you credibility. A bad image, well who knows what it will do.

Anyways to answer the question - I wear a company shirt, tan or brown khaki shorts, and boots.

Wouldnt boots be really uncomfortable? Is there a certain brand of shirts?

I think it doesn't matter. It is all about the quality of work... my clients don't care that my employees aren't uniformed up... they just want there work done on time and correctly. I think image is over rated... it doesn't generate referrals like quality work. One day I will get around to uniforming my guys... but I have more important things to worry about like estimates, jobsites, posting on lawnsite, etc!

We just wear company t-shirts (Fruit of the Loom) with kacky pants or shorts (Dickies). Boots are good for us, I like the hiking boot line myself.

Appearance IS important if you want to stand out from other LCOs that already have clients. If you do a good job, your business will grow. But the iniformed appearance has helped me.

Example: I put an ad in my local newsletter. We recieved numerous calls to bid on jobs. We were never the lowest bid on any that I am aware of. But my appearance and conduct must have stood out because I landed 9 out of 10 new clients.

Well, I don't think can credit that to your uniforms as much as you can YOUR appearance, competency, and sales skills.... selling a job is different than when your crews come on the job.

I agree. The uniforms are part of my appearnce, though. I understand that uniforms are not a neccesity comparied to quality work. However, they do help to boost a growing business in my opinion. We all have to have work clothes anyway. Outfitting a number of crews would concern costs, but starting out with one or two guys, not so much. Shirts cost $10 each with my logo where I get them.
