I am going to offer aeration to my services in the next month or so. What exactly do I do besides aerate??...fertilize, overseed, lime??

I hear different things from different people.....don't trust any of them 100%.

Not every yard needs lime right?

Everyone I talk to doesn't get a soil sample....they just aerate and overseed or fertilize. What should I do?

What kind of seed do I overseed with?...of fert do I use?

I just looked at pull behind aerators and I'm going to get a walk behind spreader. I only do residential lots 1/4 - 1/2 acre basically.

You pretty much have the right idea. Soil tests are usually a good idea but not always neccesary. A standard lime rate would be about 20 to 25 lbs. per 1000 sq ft, or 18 to 22 bags per acre. If you're doing a total renovation use a starter fertilizer like 18-24-12, or if you are just lightly overseeding you can use something like a 20-10-10.

I actually called two other landscapers in my area and asked what they charged and what they used. Both said no need for lime/soil test unless I had a lot of trees/moss and stuff in my yard. For fert they use 10-10-10 and a Roxbury mix of overseeding. I have the seed written down at work. Thanks again for helping....I was wondering where everyone was.

Peace,
