I've heard and read much about how Ohio University students have been recruited to help plant the new 15/16 percent Amercan Chestnut ( 1/16 Chinese Chestnut) on the hillsides of old coal stripmines of SE Ohio. Has anyone out there seen if and how well these trees have taken?
:) (Bear in mind O.U. kids are the some of the nations biggest dorm partiers, and may have put the leaves in first!)
Man, just think if this works! We'll soon be singing along with Bing Crosby at Christmas, and may actually experience 'chestnuts roasting on an open fire' for the first time since the 1940's when the chestnut blight finally finished them off!
