Growing up in the pacific northwest, my cousins would always
talk trash about saws...at that time (mid-70's) McCulloch
was still around but fading, if you could get your hands on a
"Mac 125" you treated it better than your truck! or girlfriend !

I always liked husky for power/large diameter cutting
and stihl for everyday cutting.

What was true then is still true today....Husky and Stihl dominate
Echo and Jonsered are distant seconds.

I've been using two Stihl 210's for some time (actually one is the old 021), it was and dare say still is the starter's saw of choice:
Powerful enough to tackle most anything, yet light enough so it does not to fly in your face when the chain catches.
Can be used one-handed, but it has too much power at WOT for this should it kick back.
Since it's not my main line of work, a lot of times they only get used maybe a dozen times a year.

I do think I'll want to upgrade to a 270 or thereabouts one day thou, you get so used to the 210 it eventually doesn't feel like much, but I've cut down some mean trees with those 210's, used it mostly for cleanup after Hurricane Isabelle.

My Stihl 025 and my Echo cs440 get the most use. Most of our chain saw work is small trees, clearing brush, storm clean-up, and the occasional RR tie wall. I also have a Husky 365 for big stuff.

i love shindiawa 757's for a main or big saw, and the stihl 440's are nice too. for smaller i like shindiawa, jonsered, or sax dolmar. i personally dont care for husque saws, but i have never used a big one just the smaller "firewood" style saws.

Try a 346xp. I've tried the other xp's and they've all been winners. Now, the ones you buy at Lowe's or Home Depot.

Just bought a MS200T last week for cutting notches into logs that are too big for my sawmill-a little powerhouse! I have 2 290's and an old 021, don't have any problems, except when I forget, and leave old gas in them!:waving:

Stihl MS 290 with a 20 inch bar, another is fitted a 16 inch bar. The 290's are a top notch, dependable, powerhouse saw.

FWIW, I think the Huskies are better in the bigger sizes. I haven't used the very newest models because I don't do tree work anymore but I have older 288XP 32" and an ancient 2101 46" bar that run like a top. They are slower but torquey. In the newer ones the 372, 385 are great and the 3120 is a warhorse.

Echo CS330-T has been a reliable/inexpensive little saw...probably not for major stuff...but for the cleanup stuff I do its been great.
