This is the Unique Hubble. It is a universal BBQ mount used for outdoor BBQ and outdoor kitchen countertops. The Hubble is mounted into the horizontal surface and then you simply attach the Hubble fixture couple to the bottom of any Unqiue Lighting fixture you please. You can then snap the fixture in and out of the coupler as you please allowing for a clean flush counter top when no light is needed. The Hubble has a nice stainless steel cap for waterproof protection when no light is snapped in place. It lists price at around $98.00 and is available!!!

Here are pictures of ther Hubble components. You can see in one of the shots we supply a PVC form/sleeve for pouring the Hubble in place on new construction.

Marc, That is actually where we got the idea. Nate was out on his boat and while enjoying a cool drink in the evening in dawned on him. We at first experimented with a telescopic BBQ light that would slide up and down remaining flush in the counter when you do not want to use it. that idea however was scrapped due to the innability in most bbq's to run a 16" stem down below. But that is where we got the idea!!

Below is the install detail. This install is a typical granite slab install.

Joey, too bad they cracked that rock when they installed it. That does look like a cool way to do that install though.

A very UNIQUE and innovative idea Joey. I like it. Not sure of your fixture selection beside a Grill however! (to each his own)

I still have not heard from your area Rep regarding getting me some Unique catalogs, pricing, availability, terms, samples etc. Perhaps they are just too busy here in Ontario to worry about lil ole' me? Maybe you could put a bug in their ear.

Thanks.

I have had success drilling trough block by doing a pilot hole first then increase the size. A hole saw/core bit works too, not high downward pressure either. Also don't use the hammer option if you have it.

Joey, maybe u missed my post about Hilti, what drills are you familiar with?

The Carbide Dry Drill I use is a Hilti TE-76. The Drill I use for my wet drilling is a Shibuya TS-162 2spd core drill, Shibuya is a Japanese company and I like this drill allot.

Both of these drills work really well. We use the Hilti more because we do more dry drilling where the Shibuya is very expensive so we use it sparingly.

Usually when I install the BBQ lights it is a flex light so it lights directly over the grilling surface itself and it is mounted close to the unit so it is out of the way. This gives the griller the flexibility of moving the light to where it is needed. Cool idea though, but I have never encountered a homeowner needing to remove a light for extra counter space.

Well the idea behind it is not to gain counter space. It is more so the homeowner has the ability to remove or not plug the light in unless it is needed leaving the counter free and clear during the day. You can choose whatever fixture you like from Unique's area light selection to add the Hubble adapter too. If you install multiple Hubble receptacles you can move that light around where ever it may be needed.

In my experience with Flex BBq lights the finish diminished and rust began to set in on the flex stem causing for an unsightly fixture after some time.

It is just another option, not really saying it is better than the others out there but it is something new to offer an try out.

That core drill made by hilti TE-76, you can rent it at home depot for $39/4hrs. Beats buying it unless you have the money. They cost about $1200. Excellent drill, gets the job done quick. I popped three holes in about 15 mins. a couple of weeks ago.
