I am wanting to get blowout baffles for my 52 and 60" ultracut decks and asked my dealer to order some for me. He came back saying there are two options: One being flanges that bolt to the leading edge of the deck and adjust up and down and the Other option being baffles that bolt onto the W baffle inside the deck. What im trying to combat is leaves blowing out the front discharge side when collecting them cutting at 3.5" and higher. The blowout happens no matter the density of the turf but is worse on thinner lawns. Knowing when my issues happen, I would like your recomendation as to which option is going to be my solution. Thank you.

PS, Id like to see you alter your fleet purchase program to weight more points for full sized turf tracers. 1.5 is quite week. Id like to see them worth at least 2.5.

My fleet purchase comment aside, I sure would like an answer to my blowout question.

Not sure if this helps but I bought a blowout baffle 2 years ago for the W baffle inside the deck of my lazer Z HP 52 trivantage deck. Really didn't make a difference at all. I get a ton of blowout from the discharge side. I run a ultra vac also. Leaves are starting to fall here just a headache sometimes to keep chasing them around. Trying to find a solution.

What position do you put the baffle at if you are mowing leaves in the fall at 2 3/4 or 3 inches? I have it all the way up and am getting some blow out! Tired of chasing leaves!!!!!

Dear Exmark,

an answer would be appreciated. Did I mention Scag is bidding hard for my new purchases?

Sincerely, Maclawnco

MacLawn,

Here's the skinny, for leaf collection, the anti-blowouts are the way to go. However, they can cause quality of cut issues when in the grass...not always, but can.

The flange baffles don't work as well (better than nothing) for leaf collection, but also won't tend to cause as much of an issue when in the grass. It's best application is for southern grasses, especially trying to capture bahai stems and such.

Here's some links that have some excellent feedback and information.

Try Rapter blades from steins for leaves.

Mac
Get the inside baffle and go with the Solid high lifts. for leaves and grass you might want to try the Rapters.

Mac,

Do a search under my name for blowout baffles.

A few years back I have pictures of them installed.

They work excellently.

Not sure if I still have mine or not. I did NOT sell it with my Lazer.

as an update, I got one set for a lazer running an UV QDS to see if they would be the solution to my problem. Yes the baffles help a little bit, but on thin lawns, there is still some "blow under" of leaves that go under the UV blower. On thick lawns, this unit is super but in most cases, properties with heavy leaf fall have significant tree coverage which means thin lawns. Yes its a good product but it isnt going to cure all your issues.

Thats why. Try a gator type blade or the "solid"lift type.

Gator High Lifts, or Magnums with the baffles/Ultra-Vac/Ultra-Cut is the way to go.

You can add Meg-mo's. With the ultracut and the proper Hp, its unstoppable.
