Mowing new lawn

On Labor Day Weekend I reseeded my backyard. The grass ranges from 2-3" in height. What is a good time for the first mowing? Should I bag or mulch the first mowing?
There is some broad leaf growing in the grass, should I put something down this year of wait until the spring.

The general recommendation around here is to wait until the lawn is 3" then mow back to 2" The broadleaf can be spot treated after you have mowed your lawn a couple times.

You don't want to cut off more than 1/2" at a time.

bag or leave the clippings, your choice. We never bag unless we have to.

I'm not sure that anyone only mows 1/2in at a time unless its a sports field.
