Hi everyone, I'm new on this site and I am very, very interested in starting a lawn mowing business. I'm 28 years old right now and was wondering at what age did everyone else start their businesses. I've got 3 kids right now and have a full time job, so I wanted to start out relatively small (mowing, pruninig, small landscape projects, etc.) Thanks

Welcome to LS. I started the business when I was 25, about 2 years ago, shortly out of college. I've always enjoyed it and still do.

Hey, welcome to the site and the business. This is the end of my first year. I was 42 when I started it. I decided on a complete and total career change.

I started out when I was 29. I had a wife and 2.5 kids, a full time job, and a part-time one. I have since lost the wife, and 1.5 kids. But, I still have mowing. Could be worse. I'm happy.

What, this one?
34

But it's not my first time around, I tried a few others, I'd say I started messing around at age 24...

Something I recall about historical data concerning most successful business owners start in their late 20's to early-mid 30's...
Too early we're just not ready, too late and we're too set in our ways, but in and of itself that doesn't exclude anybody either, plenty folks started earlier and later and are still around after 5+ years.

I also dare say, and I don't think data exists on this, but I think everybody tries at least once
You know it's worth a shot, that much is for sure.

I am 17 and I started cutting grass when I was 12. I started cutting outside my nieghborhood last year but my dad had to drive me. This year really picked up though, I am hoping to get even more next year!

My dad is a mechanic, and talks about how the industry has changed. i spent the day with a matco determinator in my hand and my nose in a mitchell manual trying to figure out the bug in one of my trucks. Gave me a real good reminder why i didnt want to follow in the business with dad.
