Deck angle

I've read posts here that a deck needs to be about 1/4" lower in the front to stripe well - is it also necessary for a good clean cut? My mower and the info with it suggests level or very slightly lower in the front.

your info is correct 1/4 inch is very slite on a 60 inch deck

I was told that if the blades are cutting on the back, this would be a huge drain of HP. It appears most decks are designed to cut the grass on the front and blow it right across the front of the deck and out the chute. Other proof of this is when you back over leaves or other materials it does a good job mulching and not much blows out the chute.

Check the tilt with the operator on the seat or somebody the same weight. If you weight 200 lbs and set on the seat with only 1/4 " tilt then it may be back to level.
