Blade belt

Could anyone tell me how much play you should have on a new blade drive belt when it is engaged? Thanks

I would say whatever you have for a tightener should have a spring on it. Adjust your linkage where there is a 3/16 gap between the links in the spring when engaged. Maybe you don't have the original spring. If in doubt buy a new spring.

With the mower off, blades engaged, spark plug wire off, turn the blades backward by hand. If the belt slips and does not turn the
engine , then it is loose as far as cutting grass.
