it might work for someone doing smaller of the larger residential areas. but it looked to me like i would tear it up after a season plus anything i ever bought from china worked okay for a while then broke, even shoes,gloves,shirts,etc...save your money( besides, how good could chineese lawns really be? don't they have trouble even just growing rice?)

I saw this thing at the trade show a few weeks back, if your other option was the troy-bilt job than the sutech is a better built machine for the same money, but I would go with a conventional 36 inch walkbehind and spend the extra 500 bucks.<p>Actually, it looked a lot like a plagiarized copy of the troy-bilt but with a much heavier deck.<p>Bill<p>----------<br>"...half my brain tied behind my back, just to make it fair." so what coventional 36 inch do you recommend I deal with wet lawns alot in NW and want to strictly mulch. I use a Honda hrc 216 for last 4 years and want to have a ztr that is not real big. Thanks

This mower is advertised as a ZTR, but I think it is really only a zero turn on the inside wheel, like all belt drives. I am not familiar with this mower, but I can imagine getting blades and belts and such would be difficult to say the least. It only has like an 8 hp Briggs, you need more engine.<p> Go with a big name like Exmark, Toro, Bobcat, Kees or something like that. I paid $2000 for my 36" Exmark belt drive about 3 years ago. One of the big companies always seems to a sale on for about this same price. If that is too much to spend by a used one.

Stevers,<p>What part of Wa are you from? I'm in the Spokane area. How well do you like your honda for mulching? I just bought one.

Stevers,<p>Yep my honda has 2 blades, haven't used it yet but really looking forward to seeing how it works.<br>Picked up my Lazer Z yesterday too. 52" 18hp Kohler with 12 hours for $5800. I really would have liked a bigger engine but couldn't pass on it because of the price.

Bought the Stealth and am not happy with it. Doesn't mulch well and is terrible in wet grass! Had to cut a lawn 3 times with it and then finally got out my residential 21-inch Toro to do the job right. I'm taking it back to my dealer and begging him to put it towards an Exmark.

How often are you mowing the wet grass? I do not think that any mower can mow wet grass in excess of 1 1/2" over mow height without having trouble mulching it and leaving clumps.
For what you are wanting to spend, you are going to be very limited. I agree that you should put a little extra money with it and get a walk-behind. The best thing to do, would be to go to a few of the dealers in your area and demo some of the mowers on the exact type of lawn you are cutting while its wet. Check the results and choose.

Its not a ZTR. It a bad attempt at a beltdrive mower. I drove one around in Louisville last year.
jason i have the 18hp 52lazer . ive not found it to
lack power to cut about anything.
on my 18 command there is a screw on the carb linkage that
when screwed in makes it limited to 18 hp . unscrew it until it doesnt make contact and you have a 20 hp.the new ones may be different as this one is 5yrs old.later

This is an old thread, over a year old. ;)
AWM, where exactly is the magic screw and what happens when you unscrew it? Does it just increase the rpm's? If so, how much?

Eric-
I did the same thing on my 18 Kohler. The engine is a 20 hp except for the set screw. I talked with the guys at Kohler at the KY expo last year and they said just back the screw out until the stop and it will be a 20hp.. It does increase the RPM's but I didn't tach it to see how much....

I wouldn't buy one. It's simply not the smartest thing to do.
Scan the market for a good used 32". Most have relatively low hours compared to larger units of the same vintage. Or, spring for a new Bobcat or Exmark 32" like lawnguy said. If you are short on cash at this point in the year...you might be in trouble. :D
Spend the extra bucks.

The Sutech 33" has three blades. Terrible in wet grass. Bought a Troy-bilt 33, two blades. Terrible cut and bad in long grass. Go with Toro 36 SFS. Deck is designed for long wet grass.

I traded for a stealth. I think it cuts good (dry). However the steering control is a nightmare. I will dump this turkey. After mowing one lawn you feel like you have mowed for 3 hours!!!!!!!!!!1

If I could go back to the magic screw that adds extra HP, could the same be done on my 19 HP Kawi?

awm,
I did back out the screw the other day. It does make a difference. Really helps when getting into the thick tall grass with doubles. Yesterday was the first day I tried it with the screw backed out and that Kohler 18 was making a couple more ponies.
By the way I'm the same jason as the one who posted last year on this thread. My name got switched to jason2 during the server change. And i've never lived in Flint, Michigan as it says. That is another jason on lawnsite. :)

I didn't even notice this was an old thread. I guess after a year, there is now some knowledge. :D
its only on the kohler 18-20 .not real surebut all it amts to is a throttle limiter on the motor that supposedly holds it to 18hp.
mine was already unscrewed when i got it used.as far any thing else
on the subject ,i would be speculating.
