I'm installing a 2" metal clamp type saddle on a 2" main to hook up 3 spary heads to a small garden area at a condo. Any suggestions on the size hole to drill?? I was going to do 1/4", but that may not allow for enough pressure. Going with a gate valve for manual watering. Your comments are appreciated.

Don't use saddles until all other options have been exhausted.

They have been. I'm in a tight spot with no room between a sidewalk and driveway for a compression fitting. I trust the integrity of this saddle, with clamps and a gasket.

Figure closer to 3/8 for a drill, or get a drilling tool for the brand of saddle you're using.

On the rare occasions we use saddles (metal or PVC) we choose a hole saw on a drill that fits comfortably into the saddle opening.
