First: EVERY lawn company I see, there logos always say Licensed and Insured. what are all these guys claiming to be licensed in? Is there one main thing or are they just putting that because there licensed in one category like spraying??? dont have a license for cutting grass.....
Second: Do bagging systems for riders have motors in them to actually make the leaves flow? I have a homeowner ZTR with a bent deck and I wanted to try and make it a winter machine. I was thinking of making my own catching system with a garbage can on back and using flexible dryer like tube from the deck.

First - I have a license in Florida for the traditional mow, edge, blow etc. then a seperate "landscaping" license.

licensed as in fert and pesticide licensed. There's no such thing as a license to cut grass. I however do have a license to get funky. Got it at target. It was on sale.
it'll clog a lot unless you have a motor or a pulley running off a spindle to make them flow.

Where do you get these license?
You think a 10-12" pipe would get clogged with mulched leaves?

What are required for these license? Test? did you have a book to look over first? Classes to take for each?
Also, opinions on the Mulch kit...

Nope no test just your driver's license, social security card, fictitious name. I'm not 100 pct on the ssc but i believe it was needed.

Hey I'll sell you a landscaping license and mowing license combo for 25 bucks. I'll take your paypal and I'll send you a certificate in the mail that says this guy paid me 25 bucks so i hearby license him to mow some grass.
As far as the bagger I don't think it will work, but if it does post some pictures. Might as well give it a try. ehh?

In Colorado you can be certified by ALCC in lawn maintence, irrigation, and landscapeing. Also in Colorado to apply anything that goes beyone basic fertilizer you need to be licensed in herbicide and pesticides. Also many larger towns such as dever and grandjuction want you to be licensed in landscape maintence through the city.
Most commercial bagging systems either use and external mount blower and motor or a belt driven blower that runs off of your deck. This is for ZTR riders.

LOL I think in most cases it means they have a business 'license' lmafo but you won't see me putting these redundant distractions on any of my literature, I find it attracts funny people, regardless of what it's supposed to mean. But you could, I suppose, get a business license and insurance and then put that stuff on your ads... I wouldn't, I get a funny feeling when a customer asks me to provide proof of it, for grass cutting...
Now I will say this: A large Lco dealing in pesticides, a tree company, or most of those things that require licensing or insurance above and beyond the basics general stuff, I can see it, sort of, still wouldn't be putting it on the ad thou, maybe if you're bonded but who knows...

Maybe it's different here but people like it when you are licensed. It gives them a little more feeling of security. And... if your not licensed and your questioned by the state, they can take all your equipment away.

yup , what he said. it means they have a business license. its not like an a/c license or electric license, it just means your licensed in your state to do business as ( DBA ).

I e-mailed this one tree removal company that said they were licensed. I ask them what they were licensed in and they told me that "you dont have to be licensed to do tree removal. He does however have a basic license in such and such..."
That was another thing that got me wondering about it.
The state can take away your equipment if you dont have which license????

Licensed and Insured refers to one having a "business license". It lets clients know that you are a legitimate contractor within your State and City and not just somone doing work on the side illegally.
Also if you are going to apply fertilizers, spray weeds, treat lawn disease, or spray for insects you will need to have a pesticide applicators license.

I don't know for sure about eveywhere else, but here in Ms you DO have to have on for pest and fert, and theres classes and a test to get it.

I had to work so I got my mother to go down town and register my business in my name. A business license is something completely different?

It's actually part of the same process, your local City isn't going to issue you a business license until you've registered your business name with the commerce department.
