Was wondering what and where you found for your Invoic software? I'm currently using software from ProVenture to make out my Estimates & Invoices but are'nt totaly pleased with it. I went to both Staples and Office Max today and basically found nothing. What product do you use and where did you find it? Any web site links would be nice too. Thanks
I have been using MyDeluxe Invoices and Estimates from http://www.MySoftware.com forever. It was originally $29.99 back in 1994. Its a no frills inviocing program that is fully cusomizable. I get their forms (paper) through NEBS. It prints out quarterly's, sales tax, and lots of other things. Plus it has an estimating section. I dont really use that feature, so I cant comment on it.

I use Quicken for invoicing and estimates as well as running the check book, There web site is www.quicken.com
I also use My Deluxe Invoices and Estimates. Exactly what I need for a solo operator. What is it that you don't like about the ProVenture software??

I use CLIP as an AR module. It handles all the invoicing and payments. I use Peachtree for everything else. Both are excellent. I was using Quickbooks, but my wife hated it. She's a bookkeeper and is used to GAAP and QB doesn't use them.

I use proventure myself and like the program I only use it for invoices. It keeps logs of everything you need, and you cant beat the price. For my estimates I designed my own and had a print shop make me carbonless copies.

I also use proventure. I think you'd have to spend considerable more money to get a lot better program.
At the end of the month, I print out a invoice... I print out "tear at preforation" then preforate it with a fiskars paper cutter with pref. blade. This way they return the check with the stub, and I can jot down the check number on the stub and stick it in the "book". On Sundays when I'm bored, I enter the payment in the computer and in the book from the stub I kept.
I then file the stub under "gross receipts" - done deal ;)

Couldnt he save it to a flash drive, and then at the end of the year burn it to a cd.You can update the flash drive each time you make an entry so you always have an up to date record

Im not a computer guru, but all my billing and accounting software are excel files and I save them in the flash drive. WE have some really smart computer techs on this site that can probably help you more than I can, let me see who i can find and point you in the right direction. Ok after trying something, when ever you are working on something you can go to the tool bar and click on file, then save as and on my pc the flash drive is an ''E'' drive. Are you familar with a flash drive?

Let me see if I understand your dilema......you are trying to burn a software program system with client info to a disk and after the burn is complete and you view the data, you have the software but not the information that was loaded into the software such as the clients account info. Does that sound right? or did I miss somthing there.
Chances are good that the location of the saved client data might exist outside of the location of the programs installation. Is it possible for you to determine where the program is saving the client info too?
The other thing is once you burn the files to cd your computer is not going to be able to write to those files again, so what might be happening is your software program may not be allowing you to access those files that are on the disk, since they are read only at that point. In order for it to reconize those files they may need to be taken from the disk and placed back onto the computer.

Whoa buddy....back up. Every hear of a little thing called a "period"
Heres one .
Every time I exit MySoftware, it prompts for a backup to disc. I have it backup on a floppy. IIRC, when I got my new computer, I simply installed the bare program to the new computer, and then simply put the floppy in that had the saved info in it. Then it brought it all back up to date on the new one.
It would just be a matter of changing the A: drive to E: or F: drive I would think.
They (MySoftware) are quite quirky programs, but easy to learn and not overly loaded with useless other junk.
