I just got this done and wanted my fellow slaves to give me some feedback. Good or bad I want to know what you all think.

Thats a nice design. Little stylish yet easy to read.
My only drawback is how you titled your phone numbers. I prefer to use the terms office (home numbers promote unprofessionalism IMHO) and mobile only because its shorter than cellular.
Nice job.

Rick....I like it! My first impression is that it has a retro look to it.
Like a '50's diner sign. It's different....it's good.

Very nice Rick.
I agree with The Point Man. It looks retro, and I like retro.

Like Kris... Office instead of Home #.
I don't know how large the lettering will be... try and make sure the phone #s are legible (sp?) from 200 feet..

What does it say under your name I cannot read it because of the smaller size j.peg. Is that a web address???

Looks good! I somehow got the impression of a supermarket sign, (don't ask! I have NO idea where it came from) but the retro thing works for a # of reasons. Main one probably being that people are wanting to get back down to the simple basics, when life was better. Better thoughts and memories are promoted.:) Nice job!

I have to agree that there has been a revival of the nostalgic items of "yesteryear" that is attractive to many of the babyboomers and older generations.
I think the first rule of thumb is the KISS rule. Next would be to add a little flavor to give your own creative touch.
I think this was a good example of both.

I like the style a lot.
However, I have a pet peave about Contractors who don't put their name or what they do in large enough print so that people can read it from a distance.
Personally, I think the most important part of the logo is "lawncare services". People need to know what it is you do. And from the looks of that logo, the only thing I would be able to make out if I was driving by or was a few cars away in traffic is "Rick's". The rest is all so small I'd only be able to read it if i were parked right next to you.
I have a picture of one of our trucks below to give you an idea of what I mean. This is one of our light duty trucks so the size of the letters isn't as big as the ones on the bigger trucks. This is the only truck I have a picture of currently. But you'll get the point - people can see who we are and what we do from half a block away.

Just my 2 cents.

I am glad to hear that it looks good...you know how when you spend time on something and you are finally done and you are afraid to hear other opinions thinking you may have to start over?
Well before I posted it that's where I was. I am feeling much better now :)
Thanks everyone for your input, I really appreciate it. As for the # thing...I thought a lot about what to call them or what #s to include. I treat my property owners as friends and my work is such that I wanted people to feel that what they needed to talk about to me, concerning my work, was important enough that they could call me at home if needed. It's just more personal and that's what I like to convey to them on first meeting.
As for the size of the print and the readability, I have only posted the biz card layout and I haven't quite decided If i want to put this on my truck or trailer yet. I don't want people to call me and complain if i cut them off:D LOL
Thanks again for all of you input. I want to hear more.
PS. $130.00

Its really an eye catcher!!
If I were you I would put it on everything. Keep it standard so it gets into peoples heads. You want to be associated with your logo as much as possible so people remember your company and drill it into their brains.
Looks good to me! Good luck!

I agree with Jim Lewis, the lettering under "Rick's" is too small.
Maybe for a business card it is ok, but for anything else (trucks, shirts, whatever) it's too small.
Go a little bigger on the "Lawncare Service" part.
Other then that, nice job.
By the way, where did you have it done that it cost $130?
Take care.

Gogetter,
It was local design shop and I walked in gave him a budget, my basic info and the rest he did. It was in the works for 2.5 months only because I told him not to rush for I only needed it for the next season. At this point I was only interested in cards and letterhead. The rest will be tweaked as needed. Thanks for the input guys.

Rick,
Very nice.. I like it alot.. Definatly can picture it on the side of a nice big enclosed landscape trailer.. I would think about leaving off the cell # , at least from any truck or trailer lettering. Business cards is OK IMO.. Also maybe dont' put the " home or Office " tag on the # on the truck or trailer just the # it self... on the card how about " Voice # " and then just " Cell # " ??? Just an Idea or two.. .. Good luck with it..

I like to see this! Something in our industry done with style, taste, and RESTRAINT!! Most logos for landscapers are cheesy looking and over the top. Thank god you did not feel the need to include the obligatory "tree" as part of your logo. Well done!! By the way, grasschopper's rendition of your logo was just what I meant by over the top and tacky. Stay with what would easily transfer to an embroidered logo on a shirt, look good on paper, and also be legible as you pass by at city speed limits. Just my 2.5 cents worth.

I just don't get the "See, Hear, Feel the difference" connection.
bubble boy
10-27-2001, 01:13 PM
see the difference makes sense.
hear the backpack blower at 7 am, feel your wallet get thinner:D
ahh, im jk.
i only use the cell number for business. personally wouldn't want people phoning my home, so wouldn't put that number, regardless of whether i called the number home or office.
but looking to get a lease on a place this winter, and i guess when i get a phone line will get an office line(with call display!).
but not sure if ill even put that # on the truck, the cell number is ***-5296 which is good for display on the truck(guess why???)
