if seed doesn't germinate in time in the fall will it still grow in the spring?

The answer is yes,...however there are certain factors to this to know. Timing is crucial. It can NOT be put down too early if it is put down late. Make sense? Let me explain a bit further. Do a search on "dormant seeding", and do the search under my name.

If grass germinates too late in the fall it will DIE! If the seeds don't germinate at all in the fall, the poor little things are DEAD! Dormant seeding is a good way of seeding if you hit the window and the window is pretty big so no worries.

So, sod is therefore the best option for late fall lawn, no?
