I got a phone call the other day from the school that I had a contract with. Turns out that they got someone else to Blowout the system for them at a cost of $150.00. How keep in mind that it a 24 zone system on 10 acres with a 2 1/2 inch main. I know everyone in here hates to hear "How Much" but what the heck I'm pissed off. What would you guys done with this and "How Much" would you guys have charged for this system?

Not to steal your thread, but a customer of mine got a flier for $33 blowouts, and additional discounts for getting other neighbors. Their company name is REAL close to mine. I have gotten some of their business, and they have gotten some of mine. This lady accidentally called them, was scheduling, and realized it was the wrong company. She hung up on them.

Wouldn't make it here. Each market is different. You'd get some... but lose a lot of customers. A lot of these neighborhoods are bumper-to-bumper homes. You'd keep all the cheapos - 3-5 zones, but lose a lot of the 8-12 zone homes and above. Heck a lot of my high end homes are now balking at $60-$65.

I thought about subbing out the the $33 guy. See if I can get a group discount of $20-$25!!! When I first got into irrigation in '93 working for someone else, we were charging $40.

I have a bank I take care of with 24 zones, but it's on maybe one acre. 3 drip zones. takes me 45 minutes and I charge $150. Your property I would do $300 minimum without looking at it. Tell them your repair prices just went up.

How long did it take to shut it down last year

This would have been the first year we would have shut it down. We just picked up the contract at the end of the school year. I was thinking up to 4 hrs to blow it out from set up to break down.

I look at it this way. If it takes you 4 hours, I can do about 2 residentials an hour, so 8 resi systems at $60 each - $460. I'd say charge $120-$150 and hour.

4 Hours? I know it's big, but WTF? I'm assuming no QCV's, etc. start at the furthest zone, purge the main, then blow the zones, i figure less than 2 hours. you are using a tow behind, right?

anyway, i charge $250.00 for almost all commercial calls. obviously some are more but out of about 100, maybe 5 are less than that.

Any residential beyond 15+ zones might as well be called "commercial",
Q.C. a given..remote a must...then you'll make some money.

For us, the difference between Res/com is more house/building, HO/ business. also the size of mains/zones more so than than the number of zones.

As a result we have some 1-3 Comm. systems being charged the Commercial rate, and conversely, we have some 50+ zone houses charged at the Res. rate ($125. per)

But it works for us, so i don't have any complaints.

Yep..it's the driveways..getting the hose to the p.o.c. All contribute to the
cost. Frankly, I don't know how any one makes any money w/o q.c. & remote

No QCV your right there. I always start from the furthest it only makes sense specially with comm. As for the tow behind its like the amex these days don't leave home without it 185 CFM baby!!!! This was my first big commericial account. I have some smaller ones 8's and 12's but this was my first 24. Learning curve ya know.
