A fellow serviceman sent this job to me. When they called him he must have figured this thing is screaming for Peter. So he called me and I called them and now I've got a major overhaul on my hand. Walking this yard is going to kill me but I'll suffer mightily in the name of water conservation. 23 zones severe slopes everywhere. A poster child for low head drainage. We will yank every Toro popup replace with 1804 sams. Replace every R-50 and replace with the new RB 5000 with prs/sam. A really cool rotor. My rotor of choice now. Depending on site conditions will use both MPs and RB rotators due to slope and constant wind. The RB ESP LX will be replaced by a WM SL w/monitor. I'll do this job over about 6-7 invoices. I invoice at the end of each day rather than do the whole job in one bite. First two are general slope pics. Last three are a zone we converted to RB rotators. I used RBs here instead of MPs because I wanted the lower angle throw of the RBs. The wind just whips through this place. The last pic is a rotator pic from below but it doesn't do it justice.

A RB 5000 prs/sam pic. Depending if the rotor is at the top of the slope spraying down or at the bottom spraying up I'll use both the LA nozzles and standard nozzles. Love their nozzle tree.

Nice pics Peter. So you're just renovating the heads and not having to add/move any?

I save that part for last. I generally see what I can do with the existing head placement first and then fill in the gaps. Digging can really slow a job down and make the customer wonder how much is getting done. So in the beginning I find a few quick easy zones that I can make a huge difference and impression and once I've got the customers faith in me then I get to more nitty gritty stuff. Kind of like dating a HOT CHICK. (Haven't done that in a while but I'd be good at it if I had the time)

Ah so.... always easier to renovate sprinkler heads if their location/piping is already good. Moving heads is the next easiest since you're working with just extending the existing piping to a new location. Adding sprinklers is the hardest since you often need to recalculate overall zone GPM/PSI and often need to go up the piping "tree" to find a sufficiently sized line to tie into. Looks like a fun one Peter. We've done a lot of those....Hank did one where
instead of solid laterals, they used miles of swing pipe & he had no pressure for expansion!:hammerhead:

I find and think that it is human nature (unless you go by M.L.) that you tend to mark down giant service invoices. I get more money and my going rate by not running a tab. Since I have daily profit goals I don't like to see them screwed up by large overhauls in which I haven't done the final bill. At the end of everyday on my drive home I do the math in my head and determine if I achieved a good/great/or really great day. My feeling is that you need to be able to determine your profit on a daily basis.

Fair and honest pricing is my MO....= 8-10 service calls a day......
