I would like to know where all of you find the time for posting? I am involved in two professions and raising three boys. I do try to involve myself in some way everyday in some form of the lighting industry, I just can't seem to find the time you guys have to post. Please enlighten me. I do get here every few days though, mainly to catch up.

We took last week off from the field to play catch up in the office, we have completed 9 designs with complete proposals in the last week that can last us a while in the field (10weeks). I have posted way to too much, my wife said the next time see looked over from her duties and saw green see was ripping the cable out of the wall! I may have to cut off the network in the office. It has rained heavy here for the last 3 days so I have been at the desk this week too, so far. I also only have one child that has school and sports for an extra 18-20 hours per week so I can work and do most every day from 8-8 or later without missing a thing. I am almost always working near school so I can take her to school and eat lunch there really easy. I gave up on everything else about five years ago as far a hobbies. Church, Family, and Lighting, what else do I need??

The key to this dilemma is to hire people to do this work for you. My focus is sales and marketing. Although I do help with the installs, and go back in the evenings, this is not an every day thing (I wish it was). I am in and out of my office all day. I may have a 7am estimate, then back to the office for a few hours till the next estimate. This business is in and out all day until about Late:30, and I do not wish to even try to count the hours that I put into it per week because it is A LOT.

It has been pretty rainy here lately, and since it is autumn and all the tourists and seasonal residents have gone home, well things slow down for us... So, I keep my installer out on the job sites rather then going myself, giving him the lion's share of the work to do.

That being said, I am also a night owl and generally function well on less then average sleep. 5-6 hours a night suits me just fine.

Have a great night.

I am usually working on designs (on the laptop) and get email notification for updates on the forum. I'll then pop in when I need a little break and post a reply. Then I can also relax in the evening with the laptop on my lap.

I do lighting but my real day job is in the oilfield industry which is a 24 hour a day business. I can come and go as I see fit, but that industry is really hot right now. When I get home from this job, the kids and I are invloved in sports and classes 4 to 5 days a week and then back at the office when I am on call. Then I squeeze in lighting around all this. Think it is about time to give up some of these evening outings with the kids. I think they could use a brake also. Then there is the wife and her lists. I will try to be more involved here in the future as I was in the past.

Give up the evening outings with the kids? C'mon Burt, please tell me you are kidding. In this business, there is no reason why you can't schedule everything in your life around what has to be done. You just have to make sure your clients respect your time as much as you do. I don't have as much going on in my life as you do, but maybe that is the problem? Give up your night job, and learn to live on less money! DaveRamsey.com He will save your life; literally!

You wont be selling Dave any lights, it's rice and beans and beans and rice at his house. Changed my money life, but I do get off track and have to listen from time to time.

Hey, I like beans and rice and luckily so do my wife and kids. I am as frugal as my wife wants us to be. She writes us a monthly budget, and we stick to it. And Chris if I give up my night job, that would be lighting, and I don't want to give that up. All of my lighting profit goes to some type of savings.
But we are going to give up one of our pleasures for a while. We all do martial arts and I help teach 3 to 4 days a week in the evenings. Before anyone asks, notice I said help, I am not the lead instructor, and no I don't want to fight and I can't break 15 concrete blocks with my head. Man this is my third post in 2 days, I'm setting records.
