Im good in the dump truck department, i do however need a new pick up badly. Im thinking about taking the plunge and buying an 08 gm duramax/allison 3500. My 02 tahoe is paid for, my dump is very close to paid off, my 1990 f350 is all done! Who has a duramax, do you like it, is it worth the big $$$ ? Thankx Scott.

Picked up my first one this summer and wondered why I waited so long. The downshifting of the allison is a great feature on these trucks. I see about 16mpg towing in the city, best I got was 22 mpg on the way back from michigan. Ask for a 24 hr demo.

This is a print out from the dealer, they are looking for 37. I think this is a fair deal, hardly what i would call stripped?

I would definitely get 2 axles, tho. At any price. Too hard to balance on just one; every time you hit the brakes you scuff up the hood...

That price tag says 43707, I do see a '37' in there but not quite like "37,000"
Something wrong with that truck if they only want 37,000...
The LEAST any reputable dealer would let a 43707 truck go for is 42395.
That's a 3% off, that is the MOST dealers will take off, 2-3% is standard discount.
Anyone who would have you believe they're giving you 15% off is either closing something out or something isn't being told here.
Maybe if they'd been upfront with me and told me why it's only 37, then I'd consider it.
Otherwise I'd run from that like hot potato.

that is probally a good price. If you buy a new vehicle these days and only expect a 2-3% drop from retail, then let me go buy one and then sell it to you. You have to remember that there is probally a factory rebate on this thing, plus, i wouldn't pay a dime over invoice for something like this. The dealer has his hold back and will still make around $500 to $800 if he sells it at invoice. Personally, i wouldn't buy a new truck anyway. I would purchase one used and save the money. I just purchased a 2005 3500HD with the duramax, 4x4, dual rear wheel, with only 14k miles for $23,250. Granted it was only a work truck interior, the original sticker on this truck was right around what you are paying for that one. I bet if i took my time, i could find a similar truck to what you are looking for and probally get it for $34k. You just have to be patient. It took me 3 months to find mine. And when i get ready to sell it, i am in no danger of being upside down in it.

15% off sticker is the goal..........2-3% is a joke. I got just over 14% on mine. The truck you reference is a regular cab, I was thinking quad.
They'll hesitate on the price and say your're crazy and say you're asking for it to give it to you. I was getting up to walk out and they met my terms. I had a GMC I was going to look at and as I was getting up I qoute "what will it take to keep you from going to look at that GMC"......I told them my price and they met it. Then I got a 6.75% loan because I've got perfect credit.

Up until the new body styles you could get 2500's 3500's for $10,000 under sticker. Still can with Dodges.

Have you driven one? I love mine and big difference between it and my 6.0L '02.
I went diesel because, well its what I wanted and that was all that mattered really. Better mpg, more power and I wanted diesel. I could have saved and went gas but then I would have gotten horrible mileage, would not have wanted to drive it and then, well whats the point then? Its a big bullet to bite but love it. Mine is for personal use mostly and a tax write off. Doesn't look so good pulling up to someones house in a lowered Honda either. I used to, I did fine too but I'm going to a higher market and need to sell myself in every aspect from looking the part to job delivery.

4 months ago I got a 2007 GMC 3500 6.6 Allison Dually with a 11 foot landscape dump body on it. I love the truck you can manually shift from the auto shifter on the column, the 6.6 kicks a**. The dump body I have has barns doors which is a must for loading pallets of pavers. I love the truck. The sticker was 46,000 I paid 39,000. Its the classic style. If you want pics let me know.

I've thought about just hooking up the Bobcat behind the truck to try out the shifting on the lever vs playing with it. Nice feature.
Also would like to try out the grade braking etc. Who knows.......I am supposed to be rained out for day #3 tomorrow :(

I seriously considered a Dmax but at the time I bought my truck it was fully $10K more considering rebates and whatnot. With diesel at $.60 more per gallon it would never pencil out as far as fuel economy goes. With MY usage (towing 2500 lbs. daily and 6000 lbs. on occasion), the 6.0 gas has more than adequate power. If I towed 8K or more on a daily basis, or used my truck as a "weekend warrior", like towing a big toy hauler, I would have bought the Dmax. If you like the truck and are willing to spend the $$, go for it, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

I bought a 06 2500 crew cab Dmax @ first i hated it i almost traded it in 1 month later. Before i bought it i had a p stroke. It is not that one is better than the other, now i woundn't even ride in the p stroke if a had to.
My ford rode rough that is what i was use to. Gmcs ride like cadillacs it is really all what you get use to. I feel like the ford towed weight a lot better but it was lifted with different springs so i am not comparing apples to apples.
I guess what i am tring to say is if you try it out and dont like it dont worry about it you will grow into it. Pick your truck according to gas milage, price , looks, whatever just don't let it scare you because it feels diffrent
Only problem i have is the ifs, my front tires only lasted 20k miles but i do carry a little weight.
