Hey,

We did this 10,000 sq ft sod job yesterday. Lots of fun in the cold but we got it done no problem.

Cheers

Hey,

We had 8 guys from 8-4 but the sod didn't actually hit the ground till 10 am. We could do a pallet about every 15 minutes. Never heard of waverly but we used John Vanderwoude sod farms out of Hamilton, about 45 minutes from the border. Great sod. They have 1500 acres or so of sod I belive.

do all of those guys work for you full time? Seems like overkill to have 8 guys for 2 trucks.

Hey,

All but 3 work for us all the time, one is a friend who had the day off from another company and the other 2 work for us periodically as needed.

Main prep was done with a 553 and a ramrod with harley box. Final grading was done by hand.

The sod looks wavy, when it is installed like that there ends up being to much time messing around with seems, Somewhere someone got off track.

I started in the wrong spot to tell you the truth. The property is not a perfect rectangle and if I were to start again id start at the fence and then 45* it away from the upper corner. Even still there wasn't to much fiddling.

W/ more experience w/ a harley, you should be able to virtually eliminate hand raking. Did you rent both pieces of equipment?

Looks good, what time of season should you stop laying sod? Dosent the cold effect it?

Rented the harley, own the bobcat. I have never really used the harley box before, and the septic bed was VERY soft in places so it wasn't super easy. Anyways it wasn't that bumpy just slight dips and threw the lines off a bit, not the end of the world.

Apparently you can lay sod year round. Companys here cut sod until the ground is pretty much frozen solid, and even then its just because when they deliver, they dont use skids and the sod sticks to the steel deck and is a mess when they unload it. Otherwise they will even blow snow off the sod to cut/deliver.
