Well, here it is. It took about a month to get here.. and its finally here. Its a 2008 GMC Sierra 2500HD Crew Cab Long Bed with the Duramax/Allison Package. This truck has every option except the rear seat t.v. Compared to my 1500, this thing is a tank. I feal like im 20ft off the ground when i'm driving. I Love it! Its a tad long, but perfect for what i need it for. If you want any more pics let me know.

Thanks! Yea, i don't think i'm going to get one for it. I've read in the diesel forums once you start getting programers for it, it screws with the computers, lights come on, etc. I don't need any of that. I think that i can safely add 90hp max without screwing up the tranny.

Nope, no plow. It's wayy to long. I would need huge lots to be able to work with this. I will use it for snow removal though. I have 2 blowers and an atv with a plow on it.

Nice truck, I wouldn't chip it if the dealer finds out you can loose the warranty depending on the dealer. The duramax has more than enough power I don't think the extra 75hp is worth loosing the warranty on a $40-45k truck.

Yea, the warrenty is another reason why i won't chip it. Hah, i wish it was 45k lol

Thanks! Yea, i love the red color. Especially on the Gmc's. I totally agree with you on the GMC vs. Chevy syling. I hate the front end chevy's. I know this truck has plenty of power, but i havn't really gotten a chance to test it out. Its brand new, and i need to take it easy for the first 500 miles. (keep it under 55mph, vary speeds, no flooring it,etc.) This is my first diesel, so i no, i havn't driven teh LBZ. The awesome thing is... it sounds like a diesel, without the smell. Most say its quiet.. but you can deffinetly tell its a diesel. THe interior is SUPER quiet.. I'm very happy with my decision on this truck. (and i better be with the price tag lol)

Very nice looking truck! You planning on putting a toolbox in there?

No, no toolbox. I will prob put in a backrack and a bedliner along with the top rails.

good looking truck. Good to see there are some good ole "GM" boys around this joint. If you are looking for a cover, take a look at the Extang Trifecta. It is a little pricey, but i absolutly love mine. it is 100% waterproof, folds up and out of the way in a second, and if for some reason i need the full use of the bed, a few turns of the handles and it comes off in less than 5 mins. the only thing you would be missing at that point is a good set shoes. Say a 265/70/17 set of BFG A/T LRE's. enjoy the new ride and working extra hard to pay for it.

u should have gotten the new 2008 F250 fx4, those trucks are a ****** beast and sound awesome when u got a diesel engine in there. id go with a gmc is it was a 1500 and a ford if its over 1500 jus cause of the body style.. but i got a gmc myself and i love it. ull really like it. i also agree the chevy is ugly and the gmc is much better lookin. gl

I paid over 50 for it with taxes title etc. I don't want to turn this into a chevy vs. ford thing, but i prefer my GMC Duramax over the ford.

i think that may be the nicest truck i have ever seen if it had a set of 285 bfg's on it! but when i see a truck like that i think i could start a whole lawn and landscape business with 50 grand !!!!!

f550 dump - $ 15,000
3/4 ton pick-up - $ 5,000
scag turf tiger- $5,000
scag wb- $1,000
whips,blower,edger- $ 2,000
hand tools,wheel barrels,ect. - $ 5,000
toro dingo - $8,000
20' enclosed trailer- $4,000
14' dump trailer - $ 5,000

i would have a heck of a bus. with that.

Not too much, just needed something better than what i have. I travel alot on weekends so i wanted something comfortable to ride in. Business has been great this year, and my 1500 isn't cutting it. I carry too much weight and the 2500 is the perfect choice. An 8 foot bed of grass clippings (i bag all my accounts) is very heavy for a 1500. I also sell firewood in the winter, and that is even heavier. I got the diesel because i knew i wanted a crew cab, i needed a long bed, and the gas engine would get me very low mpg. And i love the sound of diesels, and not to mention the power!

Then he's doing something right! :clapping:

Haha thanks! I know the truck might be a little overkill, but it's what i allways wanted.

Yep, that too. Some people don't really think of it as an investment. Some will say that a 20k truck would have done the same job. To each is his own. This truck will make me 4x more the money that my previous truck did, and i know i won't be overworking a truck that is actually ment for work.

THanks... It's called fire red. The tow mirrors are great, but their (like the whole truck) huge! If anyone went from a 1500 to a 2500, you know how i feel.

Yeah I would have liked apples to apples too.

Are you really seeing about 18 MPG unloaded? Or is it too early to tell yet?

And those trucks in the test are part Cadilliac inside! They all look too pretty to get dirty.

Here's some of the interior shots..It amazes me how quiet it is inside at highway speeds. They really did something great with this truck. The thing i like about the back seats is they fold up without any levers. The rear also has its own radio/cd/sattelite music that is used with headphones. The navi system is awesome. Some of the best i've seen. The truck is going in soon for a bedliner, top rails, top rail hooks, possibly nerf bars, and possibly a backrack.

No kidding I was wondering the same thing. I usually make sure I have a 15K trailer behind my new diesels before I get 100 miles on them. The newest one made it to almost 600 miles before a trailer. I have yet to have a problem with anything on my diesel trucks...

Hah, don't give me any ideas! I did really well this year and needed a truck. So the two came hand in hand. I'm in the process of building a frame out in my bed that will give me 2x the bed space. It will be mainly used for firewood. I'll post pics as its being done.

I was wrong.. i got 22.1 average highway doing 55... I'm almost on the 500 mark. I havnt done any extensive driving over 55.. maybe did 65-70 for a few seconds.. lol i had to. It was a killer today at the pump though. over 100.00 to fill up this hog.. It's a real great truck so far. Wednesday it's going in for the bedliner, top rail, and hooks.. Maybe another hundred miles or so and i'll put it to work. I'll also post pics of the racks that i made for it. Its a 4x8x5 box made out of pressure treated 1 by 6's.. This thing prob weighs as much as the dump inserts!

Yea, i thought the same too, but i factored in all the times when i could have used the truck for personal reasons (needing more room for friends/family) i figured i should just go all out. So far it's been a good decision, but then again i havn't used the truck for work yet.

Wow that front end is heads and tails above the other 08's. How do you like the LC/LB combo?

I actually like the combo alot. I've got the full size bed when i need it, and i'm able to bring around 5 people if needed. If i only take 1 other person, i can put my bags in the backseat and not have it rained on. So theres pro's and con's for everything.

Heres some pics of the finished product that i said i was making for the truck. Its 4 feet wide by 8 feet long (now 7 feet 9 inches) by 5 feet high. Its made out of pressure treated 1x6's and regular 2x4's. I was stupid and didnt think to use pressure treated 2x4's so now i'm going to have to put a water sealer on it. I also used steel angle pieces for the corners. Theres 5 of them which make it extra strong. It took me a good 2-3 days to build this thing. My only set back was when i was done.. i go to slide it in the truck, and it didnt fit length wise! When i measured, the bedliner wasn't put in. The bed was a little over 8' so i made it exactly 8 feet long. So, they decided to put a 32'' thick bedliner in and i was short maybe 2 inches. I fixed that, and now it's fine. This will be mainly used, if not only for firewood. Without this i was only able to fit a 1/2 cord into the truck and would have to take the enclosed trailer to deliver the other 1/2 cord for those who wanted a full cord. Now with the new truck i can actually hold a full cord. I've said it before and i'll say it again. The weight capacity difference between my 1500 and the 2500hd is huge. If i were to put this thing into my 1500, it would sag alot. (just the box alone) I had it in my 2500 and it barely dropped. (no pictures though) Now it takes 3 very strong guys to lift this thing into the truck, so thats the only negative thing about it. I plan on making a steel sawhorse and letting it sit on the sawhorses which would make it level with the truck. So there won't be any lifting from the ground to the truck level. It will just be lifting slightly and sliding it in. Overall i'm happy how it turned out. Let me know what you think.

So that holds only a 1/2 cord? Man a full cord is a lot of wood. Do most people order 1/2 cord?

Nope, the pickup bed alone holds 1/2 cord. The thing i made holds slightly more than a full cord. This year i'm about 1/2 and 1/2 between the full and half cord orders.

why not just use the stake pockets, throw a few boards on the side, and you can hold the full cord that way, much eaiser to lift off and on, and you are not restricted to the width of the wheel wells? plus less wood used? i guess its to late at this point, but thats what i would have done

Well, i use the truck as a personal vehicle too, so i don't want, or like the look of wood in the stake pockets. Plus i'm having a diamond plate top rail put in with those circle hooks for strapping things to. What i have is much stronger, and i think is better for the job.

Nice rig, The Duramax is a great engine, you will get use to the "diesel" power, and want more. I just drive a gasburner then get back in my diesel. I would not install a programmer, unless you just need to extract every HP&ftlb of torque, do you have the 100,000 mile warranty? or did GM bauk because it was a diesel. The Allision 1000 stock is good 750ftlbs. The last GM diesel I owned was a 6.2L the diesel that started it all.

I have a gas too.. They both have their ups and downs. I like both trucks equally. No programmer for me at all, it was for another poster who asked about it. I'm pretty sure it has the 100k warranty. The diesels allways had the 100k warranty anyways, its just the others finally got it.
