Glass is easier to cut underwater because of this. Unfortunately I have seen someong who tried this and ended up cutting his fingers. The scissors don't "cut" the glass but crush it from the edge, chipping pieces off it, while out of water the scissors just slide off. If you do try it, use protective gloves and have fun!
