I power wash them on Sunday ever week if we arent cutting i scrub with simple green and a sos pad takes a while but look at them like i said that one walk has over 2000 hrs on the machine and the rest have anywhere from 500 hrs up to1200 hrs . Image is alot these days and some places dont want ratty look trucks and mowers at there places plus if ya keep them clean and well maintained you get more at time to trade or sell .

What year is your truck and what engine is in it? That looks like a nice, clean, well-taken care of truck. I always liked that style of Chevy and by the end of this summer, I hope to have enough to upgrade my '93.

Thanks.

The dump insert I bought off a guy here on this site, sanded the body and painted with POR15 paint. I built the wood sides and now it has a canopy over it. I paid 1150 for the dump, couple hundred for wood and 300 for the canopy (custom made).

The orange diamond plate was put on to protect the entrance of the trailer in case they got out of control. I added the diamond plate on the rear door of the trailer as well (will post pic later tomorrow).

Thanks for the positive comments.

I have the rubber coin floor in mine and dont care for it in the august heat it was bubbling up and i wasnt too impressed with it for the money i paid! the next trailer will either have linex or like a checkerboard flooring but thats if theres another trailer! hopefully not

Just make sure you get some checkerboard flooring that is made for good abuse because mine did not last very long at all and I know you mow alot more and would be going in and out more...

I started with this 81 chevy but people said it didn't look good for the business.

Littlehoe
01-10-2008, 12:32 AM
No negative comments yet, well none that anyone has told me anyways... most people even old people I meet think it is cute, catchy, or funny.

Last year I didn't have to haul to much rock or sand, mostly just stumps. The few jobs I did that required hauling stuff I used the trailer which is a real pain to unload and then I bought one of those load handler tarp type things for the truck box. It actually worked really good for gravel and stumps. This year I am looking at a dump insert for it though and also possibly a New Holland LS125. I want the small skid steer to keep with my focus of backyard jobs. The excavator can sneak through a 40" gate so its great for doing ponds, stumps, or foundation repairs where people don't want to tear out a fence to get larger equipment in.

If you meant my Kubota it has been great. The excavating thing is just a sideline for me but it made enough to cover the payments on it in the 4 months of part time use I had last year. It was pretty amazing how much dirt you can move and how powerful the little guy really is.

I got the U15, quick attach, bucket, post hole auger, custom hydralic thumb, and trailer for about $40g's, canadian of course. That was also when our dollar was crap. I am kinda scared to see what one now is worth, with our high dollar I am sure I would take a big hit if I went to sell it.

This year hopefully will be a little more productive as I am going to be able to start advertising and working earlier in the year.

o ok.... i was thinking of getting a white one but wanted to know if it can stay clean easy with just power washing it and soap ...

You probably wouldnt even need to use the pressure washer to keep it clean. No point in using that high pressure on a new paint job if you dont need to. Soap and good water pressure should be enough unless you are driving in bad conditions and let it build up. I never had a problem with keeping my white enlosed clean, except for the front of the trailer where my tires would throw rocks, dirt, etc up.

600 for that trailer is a steal!

1) 1985 Chevy all original, I think she will get painted this spring. I also need to do exhaust work, cooling work, and have the heads rebuilt... so I am going to put close to $2,000 into her.

2) The Second is my Cub Tank. Its got a 60" deck with a 25hp Kaw. (I love it)

3) The 6x12 trailer, and the Dad's 5x8 he uses with his Ford Escape. I plan for a 7x16 utility trailer this year.

actually my customer is the VP of a large boiler repair and welding co. and he gave me the bay for free at their shop for as long as i need it. i have struck a great relationship with him. you can follow the patio im building for him under the hardscaping section www.lawnsite.com/showthread.php?t=211580

no one else rent there, this bay is in a separate building and they park there service trucks in the other side of the building.

guzman: What size truck is that, F250 or F350? What motor and tranny does it have? I love the look of the older fords and would love to run across a 96-97 F350 powerstroke. How does that truck handle that trailer loaded? Good looking setup.

I can fit 4 riders in the trailer. I sold the Toro walkbehind last year, but may be getting it back because the guy I sold it to went out of business. I also bought the Bunton off someone else who went out of business and it only had 200hrs when I bought it.

Tight Angles
02-17-2008, 10:59 PM
I have owned my business for almost 10 years, so my route gets tighter and tighter every year. Most of my accounts are in the same city,so I have little drive time. And most of the subs that I cut in have 20 houses or more. I have one sub that I cut on Wednesdays that has almost 60 houses scattered throughout, so we basically only have to unload the mowers once and just keep cutting. Its pretty cool. I guess the lots are just average size. 1/4 acre or so for the most part. Some bigger, some smaller. Most of the time we only use 2 of the mowers and sometimes 3. The fourth is for back up. The Hemi pulls the trailer fine, but is horrible on gas.
