It's the 5.2 liter 4 cylinder turbodiesel used in the Isuzu N-series and Chevy W-series trucks (same trucks, different badge). It's rated at 205hp/441 ft.lbs. torque which specs very close to the 4.5 V6 used in the Ford LCF.

5.2 engine is a good strong engine, one thing MAKE SURE you replace your fuel filter every 13,000 miles or every other oil change. I see alot of fuel injector failures due to dirty fuel, these injectors are electronically actuated and run about $650 each, so keep those filters clean. The newer filters are made with smaller microns and can clog faster and stay with factory filters.
This engine has been in Japan for about 10 years due to strick emissions regulations, here in the states its been here since 2005.

Since you are a master tech what can you tell us about the price of parts and service compared to the fords, dodges and chevys?

If that engine is anything like my 2003 4.7 isuzu, you will be all set. Trust me when i tell you, these cabovers can do anything!

Pretty much the price is up their if repaired at the dealership, you get what you pay for. Experience is every thing, especially when comes to these new high tech engines. As for filters ALWAYS buy factory originals.
