Thanks Charles and thanks Nitro121,

I started off 13 yrs ago doing residential garden and lawn maintenance, soon realizing commercial property maintenance was a better fit. Have kept the same contracts since then (factory, industrial yards, retail lots etc.)

Treated the clients good and they kept me on.... this led to snow plowing, ice management. Then began to do line painting, re-stripes and lay-outs. Making new contacts and referrals along the way....picking up more jobs.

Got friends in the area who do the same work and we share local info. Good to have friends in the business !

Bad topic. What did you start out with? Buckets, trash pump, or did you work in the field and then drop 15 grand in system to start with? :weightlifter:

Hi Shepoutside and Nitro121 !

Started out with old Chev 1/2 ton, couple of shovels and other hand tools (implements of torture).

My wife and I got new equipment as time went by..... still only a small outfit, but working smarter and not harder. We have not needed to advertise.

I'm breaking in to sealcoating now...or trying to. I'll find out after I do my own driveway next spring...600+ feet....with a "trash pump" system and see how good it turns out. I'm hoping my driveway will give me all the OJT I'll need for small residential drives.

Hey Nitro121,

Sounds good. That's a biig driveway! Plenty of OJT there. You'll be good to go for commercial stuff then.
Have a buddy here who does small to mid size lot sealcoating.... crack repair filling too. He does well with it!

Good luck with the seal coating!
