Does anyone on this site run any Ford F-550s? I have some questions about plates and taxes if so.

I see that you are in Kentucky so maybe you won't be able to answer for Illinois. But what class of license plate do you have for your 550? In Illinois it requires an H plate.
Do you pay per year or per quarter for the registration of the plate?
How much is it to register the plate?

Two of my local competitors have this size of truck, One is a F450 and the other is a f550 they both are running F plates I believe.

Thanks Tim. If you get a chance to see the F550 again could you try to check which plate they are running.

Every 550 I have seen has had f plates and the good ole inspection sticker.

We have an f-800 with an H plate. Costs around 1k a year if I remember correctly. An f plate on a 550 should be sufficient.
I think the sec of state website has a chart on it somewhere detailing plate weights and yearly fees.

Thanks for the replies. I found this http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/departments/vehicles/cft/truckfees.html on the Secretary of State's website.
According to this an F550 with a GVWR of 17,xxx needs an H plate. An F plate is considerably less expensive. So how are those guys running them?

My mistake. I checked and we have a K plate on the f800. We run F's on our one tons so an H on a 550 would probably be the correct plate to have.

Legally you need an H Plate...I have a friend that has one with an F....and a C4500 With an H Plate..
