I used a shortcut with the 54" deck for many years on my telephone yards about 25 around the town 1 time a week it was the best just hop on and go! never any real problems. Did not like the lift arm for the deck being aluminum it bent and mine had a problem withthe battery after a few years it would not keep a battery but i loved it.
Blame wright mowers for it

The arm wasn't aluminum, unless it was home made or something.
The factory lift kit on the mower was all steel.

the lever on mine was aluminum i thought it bent left to right very easy but it was silver?
Possible that it was metal and i thought it was aluminum due to color and how easy it would bend left to right, the mower was purchased new so it had to of been factory it was bought as soon as they were released

It did bent left to right, but it wasn't aluminum.
It was anodized steel.
