Currently working as a QA Manager for an oilfield supply company, was curious if adding ISO type structure to my upcoming landscape business would be viewed as a value added for commercial customers.

Has anyone looked at this?

Isn't ISO mostly for manufacturing? Do some commercial accounts require ISO certification for all contractors working on site? Are you talking landscape construction or maintenance?

Your target customers could answer that one.

My guess is that most of your customers won't know what ISO is. The one or two that know ISO is a standardizations organization won't understand how it would apply to what you do. It would probably raise more questions than it answers. Things you can do to help yourself and your customers would be to get a green industry certification.

Having to work in the manufacturing biz for over 23 years I would say 99% of the people would not understand the meaning. To be ISO certified can be a real pain in the butt. The yearly inspections can be time and money costly. Better to have a clear mission statement, and back your word with quality work.
