I am full time. Right now I am still mowing and stuff but not as much as growing time. Thats when I work way to much. I have approx. 70 accts. Some small 10 minute yards and some all day affairs. I am going to hire a couple of guys and I think I am going to try to stay out of the field.

I would like to have a crew so I could have some days off every now & then . I need some time & some more accounts to build my buisiness to that point .

No Rush- Do you advertise in Corpus at all?

I don't do any advertising. Word of mouth and flyers have worked great for me here.

No Rush- I have a few friends in Portland.
Have many systems have you installed? Did you buy a trencher? This will be my first year to push the irrigation. I have done several repairs but nothing to complicated yet. I am looking into the Bobcat mini-track unit with a few attachments. Shopping around and undecided.

Take care

to date, I have installed 5 commercial systems, 3 residential and done a few repairs. I rent my trencher and pass the cost on to the customer (so I don't have to worry about repairs if it breaks, and they do break). I can't justify owning a trencher yet however, I think the new Ditch Witch Zahn is real nice; I spoke to a dealer and he was willing to set me up with an "Irrigation" rig (boring tool, trenching chain and back fill attachment) for about 17K brand new.

That's great...What brands have you used- Rain Bird, Toro etc.? I just picked up valve locator for repairs. I have a hard time trying to justify the trencher purchase myself.

I use hunter and rain bird; and RainCad 2008 for my design work.

Rockport checking in. We offer Lawn Maintance, Landscape design and installation, irrigation, tree trimming, bed maintaince, tree sparaying, etc. We bought a Ditch Witch SK350 mini skid steer over a year ago and it was a smart investment. Payments are less than a rental and wont wear you out like a walk behind model. We also purchased the bucket, blade, and cover up attachment as well.

Corpus Here. Been in the industry here for 13 years of which I spent the last 6 years at the company I just purchased. I currently have over 100 stops a month on a bi-weekly rotation. I service a wide and varied range of customers from doctors and lawyers to multi-complex retail stores. I work by myself but am able to employ an extra body, I just find the money overwhelming as a solo operation.
The guy I bought the company from ran an ad in the phone book for the duration of his ownership and removed it just this year. To date 4 months after the ad was pulled we still recieve daily calls for service which makes for a lucrative customer selection process.

Gimme a shout!

Congratulations ! on your purchase . It sounds like you purchased a much deserved thriving company . I am currently a part-time operation with room to grow . If I can help some of your calls that do not make your selection process or if I can be of any assistance to you , please give me a call . Lets do lunch & talk shop sometime.
