View Full Version : How about a walk-in van

Any one use a walk-in van for mowers? You know, the old bread truck type.I used to drive one for a job before this biz.I put trailor in garage now.Tired of hookink and unhooking. My route is faily tight within 5 miles of my house.I'm also tired of canvas tarps fighting rain.I would think one with nice dovetail and gate would be cool. What do you all think?I love reinventing myself from time to time out of sheer bordom.

The biggest lawncare company in our city uses old bread truck-type vans. He buys them used for next to nothing. I think he has 7 or 8 for his crews, then has 6 or 8 more that he parks all over town with his company name on the sides. Cheap advertising.
The crews that use mowers bigger than 21", also pull a trailer with the van, to haul walkbehinds that are too big to fit in the van.

From what I've heard about these things, they get terrible mileage and have no driver ergonomics (or comfort). But, they are terribly cheap. Test drive one if you can, and if you don't have to drive it very many miles, it could be a good investment.

We use a cube van (box truck) it holds a 61" Bobcat midmount and a Walker 48" GHS plus all hand tools. Do a search on my user name or cuve vans we have pics here.

I just thought of the "old bread truck" idea tonight and thought I would search it on here. I would LOVe to see the pics of Cantoo's, but I can't seem to find them even when I search for "cube vans". Anything I'm missing?

SlowMow, I didn't realize I posted is so many threads I had a hard time finding the right one. When you do searches if you use a person's user name then it eliminates alot of crap then you just look at the thread title to see if it's what you are loking for.
Here are some pics. scrool down to my name, cantoo and click on attachment.
