any JD f935 owners - PTO prob

Hi,

I have a jd935, 89 model and I bought to rebuild as a project. Not running right now but I was inspecting the PTO and the way the Lever operates. As the PTO lever is all mechanical, should I expect to have it stay in an engaged position even when the mower is not running ? what I am trying to work out is whether it can stay in an engaged position when the mower is off - if not, then I would expect that I have parts missing or something else is wrong. Stupid question, but a simple process of elimination...but thats my opinion...

The PTO lever is held in the engaged position by a magnet. The only way to disengage is by a quick yank back or tap the emergency brake pedal. Good luck!

ok. will it stay in the engaged position even when the machine is not running ?

89 takes me back a long way... Believe the lever is held in engaged position by an electromagnet, controlled by seat switch thru the time delay control module (black box) and/or a relay. Not sure what actually returns it to disengaged position but it should not stay engaged with machine off.
