You picked a great truck! These duramax's are incredible. Any reason why you didnt go with the new LMM engine? Nice truck either way!

Just curious, what year was the dodge you had and what problems did you have?
I have a 1998 that is doing ok, but needs some serious work on the brake system... It's a V-10, and thank god it's not my only vehicle. I couldn't pour the gas on the ground as fast as it burns it! Other than the fuel consumption and the brake problems I'm pretty happy with mine!

Good looking new GMC though! Looks pretty tricked out with the nerf bars and chrome wheels!

The old truck sounded like it would have been a nice truck despite the problems! The new one is nice looking! Good luck with it!

Nice truck. I actually prefer that body style to the new 08's and the duramax/allison combo is a proven performer by now. Are you putting 35's on this one too.

I would have thought you would get an LMM but that's cool. I assume you got a super deal on the truck? I LOVE my Chevy 6.2 diesel but can't wait 'till I've got the cash to replace it with a D-Max. I'm only 16, so I gotta start somewhere.

nice lookin truck! I considered the gmc/chevy 2500hd/3500s when i got my 06 f350, but freking GM is really behind in wheel choices, i just couldnt part with small wheels when the dodges and fords had 18s and 20s available.

I went in a buddys 06 duramax shortbed in ohio before, it was fast, probably faster than my f350 is, i think he said it weighed about 6800lbs, and my fords around 7600-7700lbs so maybe that hurts its "go fast" feeling too.

best of luck with it, most guys like the engine and trans combo :)

If i were you i wouldn't put 35s on it they will rub really bad. Mine has a leveling kit and rubs a little when you back up with 285s(33s) truck looks nice

funny i thought the same thing, not so much the sizes but styles. i was having a tuff time spending $40k+ on a truck that i thought needed new rims. not that it broke the deal but a tiny factor. they look like the same rims that have been out for 10 years. thought the same about the interior. drove the nicest though. probably would have got one but i got my 350 for 10k off sticker

I think one of the reasons they haul and handle so nicely from the get-go is those little 245/75/16 stocker tires.

iluvscag- No its not a 4x4... for the price difference it didnt seem worth it. but in the past two years i used my 4x4 4 times. 2 of those times were to play... so i figured ill take the better fuel mileage. but they put bigger tires on it, so its looks like a 4x4.

tthomas- Lets see its a 07 classic. SLE no carpet!!! thats my favorite option. has all options except leather. and only has 17000 miles. felt it was cheap price. only 30,000.

petr51488- i didnt get the LMM cuz they didnt have any on the lot ha! i was really just lookin for a good used deal. i did drive an LMM and was very impressed, but felt this LBZ was just as good. already been thru my first tank with mixed city/hwy drivin. 19.2 mpg, and of couse ive been seein what this things got. so it should go up. not to bad if you ask me. conciderin the dodge got 13 mixed drivin.

Jas Rose- A/C went out, power steering pump was on its way. it leaked on the inside, had so much wind noise. and got terrible fuel mileage. just a bunch of interior and exterior stuff. it dented so easy to!

DBL- i wish i could say i was sad to see the dodge go, but since it was already nickel and diming me with only 47k??? good riddance. i will miss the cummins tho. but man this duramax is a hoss!

KLC99- i will probably eventually put some 35's on but dont know when. im goin to put a nice lift on it once its my personal/estimate vehicle. i really love how the GMC's look with nice wheels and tires, and in the air.

ramair-I absolutely hate the wheels! thos will be gone as soon as possible! im actually goin to look at some today! yeh they are over a thousand pounds lighter, thats why their a little faster. and get better fuel mileage. but dont get me wrong, i still love fords. this one was just at the right place at the right time.

Grademan- i didnt buy a chevy!

ill take more pics today. ill get interior shots.

yeh the interior is alittle old, but i like the buttons.

and if i coulda found a good deal on a ford i woulda got one, but i just couldnt find any...bad times.

Tires are one thing that helped me with my choice too. My chevy came with 285/75 BFG All-Terrain's which pretty much sealed the deal for me because they're almost brand new:cool2:

yeh carpet in our trucks is just dumb
it really is, all it does is get dirt clogged, then only a backpack blower cleans it out good.

thou that old d2500 slt? looks better than mine, but I know what you mean they do get kinda noisy, wish I could afford the payments.

I do wish they protected the electronics better, so we could wash the interior like in the old trucks, with a hose and water

19.2mpg? Did you use a calculator? My LB7 is getting 15mpg city/hwy and the LB7 is supposed to be a more efficient engine.
