I'll throw out 2 hints... It snowed here (again) yesterday, and last monday I bought a new single stage Toro snow blower...

A Christmas light Outtage??

Yep... I will now have 1 75' cord and 1 15' cord, lol. That's if I decide to put ends on both sections... This is just a 16ga. cord, so it's not like it's a big loss. I have about a mile of extension cords overall (literally). I do a LOT of Christmas lights around here! This cord ran to my 7' inflatable snow globe and the spotlights for it.
Yes, I was forewarned about ths from a couple people... But I thought I knew exactly where this cord passed over the sidewalk and I was just going to raise the front up slightly to run right over it.... Bad idea! I was more afraid I may have damaged the bearings on the snowblower! It was wrapped in there TIGHT. That's the reason it's cut into peices, that's the only way I was able to get it un-wound out of there. :dizzy:

I don't care who you are, that's funny. Reminds me of when I took a mower over a garden hose:hammerhead::hammerhead:
I was pretty mad at myself then, and out $20 for a new hose, now I look back and laugh:laugh::laugh:
Still mad about the newspaper I hit with the 36" T-bar. 4lbs of instant confetti to clean up.:cool2:

some of you guys may think thats funny but if that thing was plugged in you could have gotten hurt pretty bad....you gotta be more careful with that same with snow plows

It WAS plugged in! My snow globe and other inflateable are on from 8am to 11pm. Of course when the snowblower wound it up it did a god job of unplugging it from the timer! It did actually tear into the cord, and the cord was broke in half in one place, the rest of the pieces were from me cutting it up with wire cutters to get it unwound.
Normally we never have "plowable" snow in December here, so dealing with extention cords for lights is usually not an issue... This year has been different to say the least!

get some x-ray glasses that can see under 5 inches of SNOW? sure...
and no, you really can't "splice" an outdoor cord like this. At least I won't. No need too. Even if I splice the remaining pieces it would be about 10 feet too short then, lol.

this is why you always use a GFCI for extension cords

I've done that with my snowblower before. It took three hours to get that all undone. I've never gone near a cord with a blower again. I was so lucky not to get hurt.

I just sucked one up last weekend. sucked it up and threw it out threw the shute, I quickly stopped, and pulled it out. And continued.

Funny thing that happened to you. I did the same thing but in the middle of nite. I was doing a residential driveway and walks. I am running a NH utility tractor with front mount blower. I am doing this sidewalk which is about 200 ft and it runs into the neighbors 150 walk. I do both. There is a bush on the side of me b/t walk and parking and I am thinking that is nice - well lite, x-mas mood in the middle of the nite and then FLASH - I think woo what was that all about. Yep - ya guessed it, I drug the cord for about 15-20ft until the breaking point and pop!
One other time - we were sick of hand shoveling b/t this guys cars all the time. So take the honda blower. We go around 2 cars, then the third and were talking about 8-10 inch of snow - here the guy has an extension cord laying on the ground that he never used, laying in a new spot and I wrapped that cord so type around the auger that we cut with nippers for about an hour until all was freed. Not a good morning!

I sucked a newspaper into the high speed auger on my Snapper 2 stage the other day. Spent about an hour out in the garage picking it out of there, a quarter-sized piece at a time. My thumbs are still sore.
