ita a 2007, got it for 30k and has 17000 miles. i searched within 50 miles of my house on autotrader and it came up with only 12 trucks...obviously people dont like to get rid of these. so that says somethin about em. thanks!

i do love the way it pulls, i havent pulled much yet with it. but my 4000 pound lawn trailer was a walk in the park. much better than the cummins towed it. ha duraworld... yeh it seems GM builds a solid truck. i like it. im getting it tinted today. and probly a leveling kit this week or next.

lawnspecialties- i has always been a ford owner, (except for previous truck) and have always dogged chevys, (which i still do, thats why i bought a GMC) but i think they have found a really good diesel engine, and that makes me give them great kudos! and i think they have a much much better truck than dodge does.

lawnking-I love the manual tap trans!! that thing is so perfect! and the allison is so smooth! not one thing flawed in that setup.

lawntamer- ha!!

grass grower- i really wanted the long bed cuz thats all i like. but this one was here. and it will only be a work truck for maybe 6 months. then it will be a personal/estimate vehicle. and im goin to try and find a 99-00 super duty long bed for a work truck.

DBL- yes i couldnt wait to get day pics of it. i knew the night pic didnt do any good!

tthomas-they are 285/75/16's. i eventually want 37's on it... ha! j/k. no i want to put a 4 inch on it eventually and some 33's or 35's. i think they look perfect with that lift on em.

02-Duramax- ive told you countless times i liked the duramax! you just never listened! I do love tha allison, thats trans is a dream and a half! you need to upgradeto an 06-07 LBZ!! much better than that LB7.

I am loving my '05 6.0L but have often recently said, if anything happened to it, I'd definitely get a GMC or Chevrolet.

The new 6.4L's are really starting to lose their appeal. They are the slowest in towing and yet by far the poorest in fuel mileage. How does that make any sense?

Isuzu has been making some of the best and most durable diesels for at least 20 years.

TXNSLighting
12-27-2007, 11:49 AM
ive actually heard the oppsite about the 6.4l. they actually tow second best. second to the duramax. definately dont get the best mileage, but ford says "we didnt build them for fuel mileage". ill get another ford before long. i still like them alot. im actually waitin for the f-150 diesel. ill get one of those. i even like the 6.0l. lota potential, just alot of people dont know how to use/drive them.

Idealtim

The 6.0 was a good motor in the later years, 05 06 07. I think only 5k+/- of the earlier 6.0's broke for no good reason, alot less then some say.

I always been a ford guy, but if I was to buy a new one tomarrow, it would be a Gmc/Duramax.

Exactly. My 6.0L has a 4" MBRP from the turbo back, an AccuFab intake elbow, and an S&B cold air intake. No other mods; just things to help it breath better and easier. It seems to really like what I've done to it and I'm very pleased with not only how it performs, but how reliable it is.

That being said, with the rumor mill already starting about Ford dropping the 6.4 after '09, I've pretty much settled on switching if anything occurs anytime soon. Fortunately, my 6.0L may keep me from doing that if all continues to go well. It's got 37,000 miles and I usually just put about 15,000 miles a year on it. :)

That was for a duramax, that was last year too, so i'm sure it went up some.

I was going to make a deal on an 06 it was an LBZ, I could of got it really cheap, then they called me in March and had 3 with plows already on, they were giving those things away. I'm kicking myself for not getting one.

I bought my dad's '01 LB7 in the middle of last season, and he uprgraded to the '07 Classic with the LBZ. The new one is unbelievably fast. Mine's got s162,000 on the odometer right now. So far it has the factory brake pads and rotors on it. It had the injectors done at about 90,000 as part of the 200k mile warranty on them. Went through some U-joints, t-case housing, and NSBU switch on the tranny and that's been it.

It Pulls around a 5k lb trailer, tractor, and brush hog with ease.
Gets about 16-18 mpg whether I'm towing or not. Too bad diesel prices suck right now.

These 4th generation duramax (lmm) diesels are just awesome. Quiet, clean, powerful, decent mpg. They are expensive, i worked a salesman for almost a year and i actually gave up, i was just unwilling to pay what they wanted. I ended up getting a deal. December is the best month to buy new vehicles, my salesman actually called me and told me he had a dmax with everything i wanted for under 35K. That got me back into the dealership & i worked them down from there! 2008 3500 regular cab allison/duramax summit white sno-way 29 whelen strobes. One sweet ride!

02-05-2008, 07:16 PM
Yea, meyer lacks on mounting and hydrualics but I just can't get past how cheap they are to fix and parts availability around here.

The guy I plow with has no-ways, the on blew a line, so I asked why he doesn't just have an extra with him (I carry 2 extras with me), and he said they're too expensive and are special order because the dealer doesn't carry any parts hardly. I'm going western or boss next year, good product and the dealers are actually pretty good.

Sorry to hijack the thread!

1 year later update:

Truck has turned out to not be so good. Been in the shop 7 times going on 8. Font end is now brand new, interior is pretty well new. Drivers seat is new. Rear view mirror is new. 1 new injector, and a couple other engine related problems. Has tranny leak now and gushing blue smoke. I am hopefully going to take it in tomorrow.

O well. I can hopefully get out of it soon. And yes i would buy another one. Truck is fun to drive and pulls wonderfully.

The TerraGrapplers look good, I seen em on Rock Stars too. Way better looking tire than the dated tread pattern of the BFG A/T's. What size wheel are you looking at getting? I think a 22" would look killer on your truck especially blacked out. You should smoke out the cab lights on your roof.

Bummer that your truck has had all those problems. I have a friend with an 07 classic Chevy and they haven't had any issues with it at all.

The new F150's are sick looking, so are the 04-08s. I'd be happy with any 3/4 ton diesel from the big 3. Right now I like the looks of the new Chevy/GMC's the best. Maybe wait till the 2010 HD ram comes out or that F 150 diesel, if you can go that long with your current truck.

I personally can't make up my mind on new 3/4 ton trucks one day its Superduty's the next its a Sierra or Dodge. lol that why I think I'm gonna wait a while.

Not quite. Ford is very very stoutly built, better than a dodge. The dodge is still built well tho. Chevy/GMC has to be the worst built nowadays. But have a great engine. I still wouldnt mind having an LMM. I just may have one in my driveway this week.

I'm mainly referring to the sheet metal-It's aluminum versus metal and that's cheap to me. The paint is also thin. I had chipped paint on my F250 every
time I would drive it and it only had 30,000 miles on it. The Dodge has held up much better.

you must of had an older Ford. Cuz thats definately not an issue nowadays. My main problem with my dodge was it dented so dang easy. And its Definately not metal. theyre all sheet metal these days. If it was metal it was very very thin.

I had a 98' light duty F250 and the hood and fenders were definately aluminum. As far as I know, the new ones are the same. I looked at a GMC for kicks and it was very thin with a big price tag. My Dodge is solid metal and I haven't had any problems, from a personal standpoint.
