I was out looking tonight and came across one I like a lot. Its a 1995 Chevy 3500 mason dump. 4x4, 89k, 7.4L 454, auto OD tranny, 8.5' meyer plow, hydro spreader on the back of it (under the tailgate) trailer hitch. They seller is trying to get $8900 for it. It started great ran good w/ no noise or anything. Dump body has 2 very small holes and has some rust bubbles but is in great shape!

How many guys have now or have had this model truck? Any feedback good or bad would be appreiciated!

That seems like quite a bit for a 13 year old truck. I have a 96 3/4 ton with the 5.7. The 7.4 likes gas.

Is it worth it? We don't know. We can't see it, hear it or drive it. Most trucks of that age and description are worth what someone will pay for them. Being from the rust belt concerns me also. As does the fact that it has a plow on it.
If you are serious about buying it, take it to a PA State Insp station that does trucks and have em look it over for obvious problems. Gonna cost ya about 1 hr labor,(walk back and drop another 25 in the techs pocket and you'll get a good lookover!) but at least they MIGHT be able to see any major problems. If you are not mechanicly inclined nor able to do most of your own work... then shy away from older trucks.

I'm decently mechanically inclined. I will also have my uncle (ase cert mechanic) look it over.
I'm mainly looking for advice on the truck itself. I've never owned a chevy so don't know to much about them. yea that 454 likes gas but I can live with that. Just trying to find out if the chevy guys know anything to be on the lookout for with this truck!

Lindblomrj, I have the same truck same year, I bought it this year at auction 4 dr crewcab, for a really good price. It has alot of surface rust in the bed and underneath. My mech said a good metal brush should do the trick. The truck was a county owned and has 32k miles the engine is STRONG!

You say you can live with the gas; but, wait until you see 6 mpg's... highway.

Since I have an 06 f250 diesel, this truck will only go out when I need it to. I would expect it to have no more then 7500 miles put on it in this first year!

man wish i could only put 7500 miles a year on a truck.

man, is 95 really that old? My newest vechicle was a 97 civic, in 03. I may need to update...

My new pickup is 12 years old. The old one is 29 years old. Wife's car is 10 years old.

Old doesn't bother me. I think the price is a bit absorbent.

What would be a good price for this truck? I would say 75-ish?

Thats just for the dump truck. My f250 diesel has seen close to 4000 miles in 2 months. The hyndai I bought in June got just under 9400 miles pt on her in 4 months. Like I said, this is what I expect, I may drive it more or less.
