Hey everyone! Well, I've had some extra time the last couple of days, so this is what I have been working on. Total cost: about $45

I plan to put a clear coat or sealer on it. Also, in front, I am going to fashion some sort of screen to keep debris from falling in between the cab and the bed.

Thanks, I want them to look good because I am going to keep them on in spring and fall, but I will take them off in summer and winter (don't need 'em then), but then again I might just leave them on!

About how deep do the posts sit in the sides of your truck? Also, do you have any pictures of the front corners (what is the metal hardware?)? Thanks

The posts sit about 5-6 in. in the slots.

I might have my brother paint my logo and stuff on the sides, or, does vinyl stick to wood with a clear coat on it?

you could probally make a banner w/ your logo, services, phone # etc. but then we wouldnt be able to see those beautiful sides!
heres another member's truck w/ a banner on the sideboards, obviously this is a much bigger scale....but you can get the idea!

Why didn't you spend the extra money and buy pressure treated wood?

Looks good. Better cut those bolts off on the inside and grind them smooth with the nut. They will catch your shirt.

Thanks for the comments guys-

nmez21- I will try to get pics of the corners, I took the sides off right after I took the pics, but I may put them back on later this week

Petr51488- Because Menards had a sale on lumber, plus I'm gonna put poly on it anyway, so that is why I didn't spend the extra money

Earthworker- I have some more work to do on the sides yet, and that is what I planned to do.

C and C- My brother is quite a good painter, so I think I will have him paint my logo on there and then I will put some poly over it

I am gonna make a screen in front using some snow fence

Hey Enforcer,
A thing Ive done For the sides if you want, go to home depot and get a big piece of plexi for each side. Then you can put your vinyl lettering on it and bolt it to the sides. Put a clear bead of cauling around it it looks very clean. Just an idea i thought id throw at ya.

I would do that, but I no longer use the sides. I got a different truck for hauling stuff, but I might rebuild sides for the other truck.
