I was wondering if anyone has tried exhibiting at a home and garden show? Is it worth the initial price? What type of results did you see from it?

Too many tire kickers. I did em for about 4 yrs . Would get about 45 leads over 2 days and only sold about 3 of the 45. This was in an area where the average inome was $98k a yr.

How did you qualify a person as a lead? Do you think if you did a little more qualifying and reduced the list to 20 or 30 leads you would still do it?

In the town I live in every April they have a big weekend long flower and garden show and many landscapers set up shop. They spend the night before the show setting up on the street. I am hoping to someday have a booth in the show.

We split a booth with one of our vendors last year and the leads we got turned into jobs. Most of the big landscaping companies around here do one if they have a specific product or service they are marketing. One guy spends over 50k for his booth and setup, books the entire year off of it.

sounds like this would be Great for larger Co's...

someone who's selling a product and NOt just a service.

wait untill you get bigger, too much money going out the door

The show I am looking at is $1700 for a 10 x 10 booth. Attendance is between 100,000 to 125,000 for the week where 85% of visitors own their own home, 70% have a household income of 60k or more. I was thinking of doing this instead of a direct mail. People actually come here expecting to be sold something or have an interest in home and garden. This also gives me a chance to "sell" them face to face which is my biggest strength

If you get the booth and do not have a niche product or service, what is going to make them remember you from the other dozen or so companies. The booth is one cost, then you must think of marketing material, signs, clothes, set up time etc. Handing out business cards is one thing but you need to get their information.

Fair Grounds, There is one this weekend at the convention center but the one at the fairgrounds is 10 days long
