I don't know, you should try it first and let us know.

I know those items will both burn. They are common paint thinners. I doubt you would get an extra 75 miles from a tank of gas by adding 4 ounces of paint thinner.

Sounds like a kid talking. Someone should try it in their lawnmower. lol

Also, even if it does increase mileage, has anybody accounted for the cost of paint thinner or Xylene? Per gallon those things are MUCH more xpensive than gas.

No. It sounds more dangerous than anything. Risk of damage to the engine and so forth.

I think they addressed it on mythbusters. It was busted

The episode was the great gas conspiracy

Just dump a bunch (a bag or so) of moth balls into your tank before you fill up and park it over night, that'll increase the Ethanol in the fuel and give it better performance.

I think the same myth buster episode address that one too. It was proven to be false as well.

They used the wrong moth balls, gotta use the older ones.

I don't care to use ethanol in my engines. IMO its over rated.

I use 8 ounces of ATF in my fuel tank every other fill up, and it's given me a good 2-5 mpg increase! It makes since, acetone like ATF (i believe) is a solvent which cleans well. Ask a mechanic about it, but mine says ATF works wonders as opposed to fuel injection cleaners. I personaly wouldn't put acetone in my tank without some further research...but it does make sense.
