Just bought this 6 x 12 trailer yesterday and took advantage of no payment or % till 2009. Also was able to use a coupon so the price was just under $2970 with tax. Yes it's from Home Depot. I will wait a week before I license it or modify it in any way just in case I choose to return it. Not a good trailer for riding mowers due to the shorter door than normal. Trailer is also lower [less wind resistance] than most enclosed trailers which is good for my power challenged Toyotas. I decided against a 6 x 14 due to increased height and a slightly handier trailer length.

Anyhow plans are to use some sort of stain sealer on the plywood floor, 3/8 plywood kick plates, rear corner jack stands, custom front shelf and caddy, wall hangers, numerous floor folding D-rings or other floor anchor system. This trailer will work for the 2008/2009 season.

Build quality is ok but nothing a perfectionist would be proud of. Then again this is an entry level trailer.

Looks nice!! Nothing to be ashamed of. Entry level or not. Are you gonna have it lettered after you make sure it suits your needs? It will be like having your own bill board.

Good luck with it!!

Ok looking trailer but you way over paid. My 7x16 V-Nose new was only $3,000.

I'm planning on lettering the trailer with large legible letters that can be seen from a distance easily. Thinking about putting the website domain on there as well. No other LCO in my area has it on their truck or trailer. Not sure about a Logo.

I like what a local painter in my area has on his truck. Thinking about doing something similar.

This trailer is roughly $400 to $500 dollars more expensive than it should be. Hope fully Home Depot will put them on sale for $2199 and I can get my receipt adjusted.

If some smoking deal comes along it will go back to HD. Since it was the last one in stock with cake walk finance I figured I'd reserve it. :)

Who else has a 90 day return policy on trailers.

Not sure if one could add them. IMO I'm on the margin of safety - yet I drive with my head in the game. This is part of the reason I abandoned the 6 x 14 trailer idea - 2 more feet to add more payload weight, more sway, tad heavier empty, taller and more trailer sway in cross winds etc. Front brakes on the 4runner need to be reworked before spring. Thinking about putting the beefiest components I can find to help in that department. According to my calculations total trailer weight will be under 2200 at all times not counting grass clippings I may haul off. These will probably go in the back of the truck.

Hardly an ideal situation but do-able.

why do you want corner jackstands, are you going to be loading heavy equipment in there?

No need for rear corner jack stand if it's hooked up to the truck however if for some reason I need to leave the trailer unhitched I can load up the back of the trailer without the nose tilting skyward.

And yes the HD credit card Banksters [CitiCorp] are counting on me NOT paying it off before the promotional period ends. 18% interest that piles on another $534.05 to the total damages plus some other nasty fees. I had the HD credit lady affirm numerous times, plus sign my credit approval statement say as much, that I will not pay any % if the balance is completely paid for inside of 12 months.

How about some shots from the side showing the trailer? It looks kinda small for a 6x12 but it might just be the shots you posted. Unless you are pulling that trailer with a volkswagon, you'll never need trailer brakes. We've had ours loaded down with some crazy stuff and a trailer that small will have no problem stopping unless you drive like a maniac.

Yes it really is a 12 foot trailer. Empty I can definitely feel the trailers weight on braking.

Long story short - I know of someone who bought an small enclosed trailer and towed it behind a new 2007 Honda Fit with an Automatic tranny. Towed it from New York to the west coast. Empty it is over 700 pounds. Loaded who knows. :hammerhead: No trailer brakes etc. Honda manual specifically states no towing of any kind - void warranty etc.. To me that is a scary situation. He's a much bigger gambler than I am.

In comparison makes my brake-less trailer seem like nothing.

Looks good,

what did you put on the floor when you loaded it w/ equip?Cardboard and thinner pallet sheets similar to a third of the thickness of a legal pad backing - all courtesy of the local Costco Wholesale. Didn't want to soil the fresh plywood just yet.

Since I do 98% of all my own vehicle maintenance I keep a supply on hand. It provides cushion from the concrete, soaks up oil, antifreeze, grease and makes for easy clean up.

where are they in Costco?
do you ask for them?At my Costco they keep them in the back of the store near the cardboard compactor. You can also scope out the aisle that has toilet paper, paper plates, towels etc. and find a thin layer of product and pull your own. Several times a day they send employees out the pull these. There are also some pallet sized cardboard trays that have a 4 inch or lip on all sides that will be handy for the back of my truck or 4runner when tilling season hits. Keeps all the loose dirt in the tray. When they get trashed, torn & dirty toss in the trash and grab a fresh one. Easier than hosing out or sweeping etc.

Just makes you look silly :hammerhead:when you leave the store with your cardboard stash.

Exact Rototilling, If you are going to do anything to the trailer floor, get it sprayed with that spray on truck bed liner. Do your floor and at least 12" up the walls, do a search on here. I've read that plenty of guys love it. Good luck with your trailer.

I was thinking about one of those too. What is the actual width of the rear door opening? A 60" would fit in it just fine wouldnt it?

The rear door is 61" x 59" - not sure about the opening. Open is just shy of 60.75" http://worksporttrailers.com/6x12.php

The ramp is only rated for 1000 pounds :hammerhead: and probably would not be beefie enough for a ZTR or other riding mower. No plans on using this for a rider. This trailer is shorter than many enclosed trailers. This trailer is fine for my Quick 36 or other larger WB and my tillers and other equipment. It might be possible to beef up the ramp with a sheet of 3/4 plywood. Payload rating is 1800 pounds with the single axle. Side walls are the Asian rain forest thin stuff and I will be putting additional plywood strip and kick plates near the floor.

Yeah I've though about taking it back a few times but I'd only end up spending another $1500+ more on a Pace Cargo Sport instead. Smooth side, [no screw pan heads] torsion axle, 2000 rated ramp, taller [more wind drag] , trailer brakes and a long list of possible options etc. This is Pace's move to offer a value trailer via Home Depot. This trailer is a better value than some of the low end trailers such as the flat roof Pace Outback. My local Pace dealer wanted more for a striped down Outback then what this one cost.

I fully admit my business model is limited as long as I run this trailer and keep my vintage Toyotas as tow vehicles. So instead of buying a $9k to $11k ZTR I'm looking at the niche market of lawn aeration instead looking to buy a Plugr 850HD or similar unit for less than half the price of the ZTR. They say aeration can be priced at 2x - 3x the price of mowing the same yard. Rototilling last season was very brisk last spring but hit the wall in June.

Won't make the mistake of neglecting the mowing market this year for the niche services. Planning on 30% to 50% of my income to roll in from mowing alone. The rest will be from rototilling and lawn aeration.
