Question? Is there that much of a difference in gas mileage from a V8 to a V10. Should i be worried if i get one? Is $14500 good for 2000 F-250 Triton V10 67K miles?

We have an F-250, V-10, Crew Cab, long bed, and it gets about 8-10 mpg in the city whether you are pulling a trailer or not. It gets 12-14 mpg on the highway. It is a very strong truck.

Every single maker of the 3/4 to 1 ton truck with a gas engine does not excel in mileage department. I own several V8's, V10's, Powerstroke Diesels and Cummins Diesels. Like the previous post I average 12 to 15 on the highway and 9-10 pulling 10,000 lbs. Maybe 8 MPG when it's real windy... After 10 years of owning mostly diesel engines I can tell you that if maintained properly a gas engine seems to have fewer problems than a diesel would. Also maintenance and cost of ownership is less with gas... All my gas engines are the newer 3 valve design...

Be very carefull about the older Ford V-10s some are spark plug poppers and the truck your looking at sounds like a supercab Ford not a crewcab.

As for fuel mileage you have to consider you buy a truck with a 5.4 V8 and your working it hard will burn just as much as a V-10.

Iam with AtoZ, We own one diesel, and use to own many more, now were starting to go back to gassers, unless your pulling alot of weight all of the time I think gassers are the way to go. Diesels cost more to begin with, feul is getting to be way more than gas, and maintnance and brake downs are more money. What I pull is either to heavy for a truck or light enough for a gas engine to do just fine. Don't get me wrong I think diesels are great trucks, fun to drive and powerfull, but I see gas engines lasting along time nowdays.

FYI

Other than my Diesels, My 05' V10 is by far my favorite truck!!!

Heck the other day a guy offered to trade his Dodge Diesel for my Ford V10...

I said I'd think about it...

Gas trucks nowadays are getting more and more user friendly versus the new emmision diesels.

I have a V-10 I don't mind it I think your much better of my buddy has a 5.4L his gas mileage is the same maybe worse when towing and he has much more trouble towing. I like my truck but my friend with a tuned PSD spanks me but you wouldn't be able to touch any new diesel with 78k on it for $14,500

no crew cab is 4 full size doors...thats a supercab. the 5.4 gets better fuel economy, but the v-10 way more than out tows it. so if your goin to tow alot, get the v-10, if not get the 5.4.
