I've just partially installed (mounted and wired) a 60 gal 230v air compressor in my shop. psi, according to the specs, is 125 - 155. I want to run a line to the outside, but it dawned on me that I don't know the best pipe to use. I know not to use pvc. Any information is appreciated.

3/8 or 1/2 black pipe. Don't forget to use tape on the joints.

steel gas pipe and fittings are best.

I used copper and it works fine.

Copper works too,...just more expensive.

dont use black iron--moisture in the pipes will rust it--use galvanized---just dont use galvanized on gas piping---

If it's a long run you might think about going with 3/4 inch, especially for a big compressor, be a shame to choke it off with a long run of skinny pipe.

That is a great point about the black pipe. I read something about that a long time ago, and forgot all about that.
