Hi Skip, your best bet would be to ask the people who are putting the ramp on what they would charge to take it off. They might do it for free and sell it to someone else. My NPR didn't have a lift on it so I don't know what is involved in taking it off. If you are handy with a torch you might could cut it off if it is welded on. If it is not welded, you could just unbolt it. I would go and look at one and see how it's attached.

when i was in hong kong i saw a lot of aluminum lift gates, made me think how cool it would be to have one of those you could drive your mower up on and use that instead of a dove trail... defiantly do able, lift gates rock! we have one on our mitfuso (rock crew truck) and absolutely love it

in the same boat. my local welder is charging $1800 for a 4 foot external dove tail and 5 foot ramps with gorilla lifts, lights and all you could go to usa ramps and buy the r10 2 of them shipped for about 1700 they are nice and they are 10 feet long less of steep incline look a little light duty i went w the heavy duty way. so assumeing you are removing the lift gate anywher from$1500-$2000 good luck let me know what it cost down there

well i finally found someone to do the install. here is what they are going to charge. $250.00 for the removal of the lift gate and $1550.00 for the 4 foot dovetail and a 5 foot ramp installed and painted. so $1800.00 all total

That looks like a good set-up! Make sure they put 2 springs on each gate. The 2 springs will make it very easy to lift the gates. Mine will barely go to the ground when you drop them. Sometimes you have to put your foot on it to make it go all the way to the ground.

Good advice about getting two springs for each side. One spring on each side will break . . . believe me, I know.
