Slip fix on section line is okay imo but mainline it is a big no-no.

Yikes, Scary.
At first glance it looked as though the pipe had been embedded in concrete.....
....then I realized this was pulled and lai9d on the sid3walk to take a photo.
...LOL.

Never admit you're wrong until you've got over 2K posts.

That is one of the problems with people using slip-fix couplings...correct installation is with the slip in mid travel, not fully extended....

...if you fully extend the slip fix it wants to pull apart like the pic Peter showed...you want mid travel since the pipe will now be moving...:)

How about not using them on a mainline in the first place? Sch 80 unions work fine for mainline fixes.

ML and LR's point counterpoint on slip fixes just shows what a bad idea they are. If you fully extend it will still piston shift and blow apart. If you midrange woe to the tee or elbow closest to it.

Man i don't see the problem with the slip fixes..
I do however respect everyone's opinion here as they have been Pwning ditches longer than me...For some reason in my poly brain i think i can do that with 2 couplers and say good night..I know its wrong, i right now would prob do 4 90's like london and other pvc'ers..

Hmmmm, now that is the ticket. Or you can just dig it up and do it right. ;)
